The article discusses Washington Examiner’s Joe Concha’s response to Los angeles Mayor Karen Bass’s criticism of the Trump management’s immigration enforcement efforts. Bass expressed concerns that ICE raids have instilled fear in Los Angeles, a city reliant on immigrant labor, especially in the context of rebuilding after recent wildfires.Concha argues that Bass should be grateful to former President Trump, crediting his tough rhetoric and policies for making Los Angeles “more livable and lawful” by enhancing border security and reducing illegal immigration. Concha also highlights Bass’s low approval rating in the city and criticizes ABC’s Martha Raddatz for not adequately addressing the decrease in border encounters during her interview with Bass.Additionally, the article notes recent developments such as the partial withdrawal of National Guard troops from los Angeles and renewed cooperation between local police and ICE after a hiatus as 2020.
Karen Bass should be ‘thanking’ Trump for making LA ‘more livable’: Joe Concha
Washington Examiner’s Joe Concha rebutted Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass’s criticism of the Trump administration’s deportation efforts, saying she should show gratitude since her city has become “more livable and lawful.”
Bass said Sunday the Immigration and Customs Enforcement raids have created “fear” in Los Angeles, “a city of immigrants,” and it could not be fully rebuilt from the wildfires in January “without immigrant labor.”
Concha said Monday that Bass is the mayor of “the bluest city,” but despite being a Democrat, she only has 32% favorability among voters.
“You have to work really hard to be that unpopular in Los Angeles as a Democrat,” Concha said on Fox News’s Fox & Friends First Monday.
“And here’s the thing: Karen Bass should be thanking President Trump instead of crying to Martha Raddatz on ABC for making the border completely and totally secure just by his rhetoric alone, and saying, ‘Do not come here, or else you’ll be arrested and deported if you want to enter this country illegally,’” Concha said.
Concha also criticized Raddatz for not mentioning decreased border encounters during her interview with Bass, only noting it afterward. He suggested the anchor is “an absolute hack” for not telling this to the mayor, adding that Raddatz “used to be a good journalist.”
ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT FEDERALLY CHARGED FOR FAKING ICE ‘KIDNAPPING’
Trump withdrew about 2,000 National Guard members from Los Angeles last week, roughly half of the deployment his administration ordered to quell riots opposing ICE.
In May, Los Angeles police officers began handing over inmates to ICE, marking the first time since 2020 that local authorities have cooperated with the federal agency.
