Kamala Harris warns Biden administration about possible repercussions for Israel’s actions in Rafah against Hamas
Vice President Kamala Harris Under Fire for Comments on Israel’s Actions Against Hamas
Over the weekend, Vice President Kamala Harris faced online backlash for her statements regarding Israel’s operation in Rafah to eradicate Hamas.
In a Sunday interview on ABC News’ “This Week” with Rachel Scott, Harris discussed Israel’s upcoming ground offensive in Rafah, the last Hamas stronghold in Gaza.
“Netanyahu appears to just be flat out ignoring President Biden’s warning about an offensive in Rafah,” Scott pointed out to Harris. “Is that a red line for your administration?”
“We have been clear in multiple conversations that any major military action in Rafah would be a huge mistake,” Harris asserted. “There’s nowhere for those folks to go. We’re looking at about 1.5 million people in Rafah who have been instructed to be there. It would be a mistake to engage in any military operation in Rafah.”
When asked about potential consequences if Israel proceeds with the operation, Harris stated, “We’re taking it step by step, but our stance on this issue is crystal clear.”
Pushed further for an answer, Harris replied, “I am ruling out nothing.”

Reactions to Harris’s Comments
Facing criticism from political figures and former U.S. officials, Harris’s remarks sparked heated responses:
- Former Acting Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell remarked, “ABC needs to let someone knowledgeable about the Middle East interview the Vice President. So many missed opportunities.”
- Former U.S. Ambassador to Israel David Friedman stated, “She ‘studied the maps’ and concluded that the people in Rafah have no place to go. It must have been an awfully small map — obviously left out Egypt and other Arab countries.”
- Republican strategist Matt Whitlock observed, “People always say ‘there’s only so much damage she can do as VP’ but she seems eager to prove them wrong.”
- Radio host Mark Levin expressed on X, “How dare you threaten the Israelis like this! You’re a disgraceful buffoon! Absolutely contemptible.”
