Emily Blunt’s Intuition: Taking a Pause for Her Kids

Emily Blunt has made a bold decision for her family. In a recent appearance on iHeart’s “Table for Two with Bruce Bozzi” podcast, the 40-year-old actress opened up about taking a year off from acting to spend more time with her young children. Blunt, who is married to actor John Krasinski and has two daughters, ages 9 and 7, explained that she wants to be there for all the important moments in their lives.

“There are cornerstones to their day that are so important when they’re little,” Blunt shared. “And it’s, ‘Will you wake me up? Will you take me to school? Will you pick me up? Will you put me to bed?’ And I just need to be there for all of them for a good stretch. And I just felt that in my bones.”

Blunt also expressed her reservations about her daughters following in her footsteps and pursuing acting careers. In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar U.K. magazine, she admitted that she gets uncomfortable when people tell her their daughters want to be actresses. She even wants to discourage them from entering the industry.

“Because it’s a hard industry and it can be very disappointing,” Blunt explained. “A lot of people tell you not to take things personally — but it’s completely personal, especially when you’re being judged on how you look. So you just have to endure that side of things.”

Despite her own success in Hollywood, Blunt emphasized that her children see her as their mother, not as a movie star. She shared that they don’t get excited when they see her on billboards, but rather when she can be there for them in everyday moments like picking them up from school or taking them swimming.
