Judge upholds vaccine mandate at Ind. University

A federal judge has upheld Indiana University’s vaccine mandate. In a decision on Monday, the judge refused to block the university’s requirement and said the policy for the fall semester was not a forced vaccination.
The judge added students and staff would have other options. Courses of action include religious or medical exemption, medical deferral and attending another university.
This decision comes after a group of students sued the university over its policy.
“The risk of COVID transmission and infection and all that is very low now,” attorney James Bopp Jr. argued. “Why didn’t we do it at the height of the pandemic?”

The students plan to appeal the judge’s decision.
