President ‌Joe ​Biden’s visit to Amman, the capital of Jordan, to discuss the Israel-Hamas conflict ‍with regional leaders has​ been canceled, according to the⁤ Times of Israel.

The scheduled meetings between Biden, Jordan’s King Abdullah, Egypt’s President Abdel ​Fattah Sissi, and Palestinian Authority President⁣ Mahmoud Abbas have been called‌ off, as announced​ by Jordan Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi.

“There is no point ⁣in doing⁢ anything ‍at ‍this time ⁢other than‍ stopping this ⁢war,” Safadi said on Al Jazeera‌ Arabic early Wednesday morning.‍ “There‌ is no⁤ benefit to anyone ⁢in⁤ holding a⁤ summit at this time.”

Abbas has withdrawn his participation in the meeting, ⁤protesting a falsely-reported “Israeli ⁣strike” on a hospital in Gaza. However, it was⁤ later revealed that the Palestinian‌ Islamic​ Jihad, in collaboration with‍ Hamas, had misfired ⁣rockets that ​caused casualties at Gaza’s Baptist Hospital.

The decision to cancel the summit may ‌also be‌ influenced by the​ recent riot at the Israeli ‌embassy in Amman, Jordan, where pro-Palestine protestors gathered.

The ⁣White House ​expressed condolences for the lives lost in the ⁣hospital ⁣explosion in Gaza and stated that Biden looks forward to consulting with⁣ the leaders⁣ in the future.

“The president ⁢sent his deepest condolences for ‌the innocent lives lost in the hospital explosion in Gaza, and wished a speedy recovery ⁤to the wounded. He looks forward to consulting in person ⁤with‌ these ⁣leaders‌ soon, and agreed to remain regularly and directly engaged with ⁢each of them over the coming days,” the White ⁣House⁤ official⁢ said.
