Joe Rogan condemns those ‘celebrating’ Charlie Kirk’s assassination

Joe Rogan concluded the most recent episode of his Joe Rogan Experience podcast with a live reaction to the death of conservative political activist Charlie Kirk.

The episode that aired on Thursday concluded recording after a gunman fired a single shot at Kirk, but before his death was confirmed. Actor Charlie Sheen joined Rogan for the episode, which has an edited ending to include their discussion of the shooting after they initially ended the interview.

“Whether you agree with him or don’t — and there’s a lot of stuff that I didn’t agree with him on — that’s fine. You’re allowed to disagree with people without celebrating the fact they got shot,” Rogan said.

Sheen said, “But you can’t disrespect his passion.”

Rogan said, “Well, what you’re supposed to do with a guy like that, if you’re opposing him, is debate him. Have a conversation where your argument is more compelling than his. That’s what people should be celebrating, discourse.”

Kirk was well known for his Turning Point USA events, during which he would field questions from university students and debate them on political topics.

Rogan continued, “This is horrible. But I know people are going to celebrate it because this is a f***ed up time and people have really fallen into this trap of us against them.”

Sheen said, “But it’s also going to make people not want to be as courageous or not want to be as forthright with the things they believe. It’s going to put people on guard.”

Kirk was an ardent proponent of free speech, even splitting from longtime ally President Donald Trump on matters regarding the First Amendment.

“Well, one of two things is going to happen. Either people are going to realize how f***ing insane this is and we have to have a conversation about being able to have conversations, or it’s going to get a lot worse,” Rogan said. “That’s what’s scary. It’s scary, this could spark off some kind of a real violent conflict. That guy had a lot of fans.”
