The White House announced Tuesday that first lady Jill Biden’s guest list for President Joe Biden’s first State of the Union address will include Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States Oksana Markarova and Facebook whistleblower Frances Haugen.

Markarova has become one of the major faces of Ukraine’s resistance to Russia’s invasion and has held daily press conferences in Washington, D.C., since Russian President Vladimir Putin first launched his offensive. Senior White House officials told reporters the president would seek to frame the conflict as a major battle between democracy and autocracy.

BIDEN PLANS HOPEFUL ADDRESS AGAINST BACKDROP OF WAR, INFLATION, AND PESSIMISM

Haugen formerly served as Facebook’s lead product manager for civic misinformation before going public with allegations the company negatively affected the mental health of young users, is frequently abused by multinational criminal organizations, misled investors, and more.

Joe Biden will use a portion of his remarks Tuesday night to launch a new comprehensive mental health strategy, including plans to prevent social media companies from collecting data from children to serve targeted advertisements.

Jill Biden, Markarova, and Haugen will be joined in the first lady’s box Tuesday night by the following individuals:

  • Valerie Biden Owens, the president’s sister
  • Second gentleman Doug Emhoff
  • Joseph “JoJo” Burgess, a representative from the United Steelworkers Local 1557
  • Joshua Davis, a seventh grade student and diabetes advocate
  • Refynd Duro, a progressive care unit nurse at the Ohio State Wexner Medical Center
  • Patrick Gelsinger, CEO of Intel
  • Danielle Robinson, a practicing physical therapist, advocate for veterans exposed to burn pits and other environmental hazards, and the widow of National Guard Sergeant First Class Heath Robinson
  • Kezia Rodriguez, a student-parent from North Bergen, New Jersey
