Jennifer Lawrence on missing out on a monster role and her relief.

Actress Jennifer Lawrence Reveals Why She’s Glad She Didn’t Get the Role in “Twilight”

In a recent interview on “The Rewatchables podcast with Bill Simmons,” Jennifer Lawrence shared her experience auditioning for the female lead in the “Twilight” franchise and expressed her relief at not getting the part.

Lawrence, now 32 years old, revealed that she auditioned for the role of Bella Swan but was immediately turned down. Reflecting on the experience, she acknowledged how different her life would have been if she had been cast in the popular vampire series.

Although she didn’t get the role in “Twilight,” Lawrence’s career took a different turn when she landed the part of Katniss Everdeen in “The Hunger Games” a year later. This role catapulted her to worldwide fame and success.

Speaking about the missed opportunity, Lawrence said, “My life would’ve been totally different. I mean, the work is still the same because I felt similar when I was doing ‘Hunger Games’.”

Despite her success with “The Hunger Games,” Lawrence admitted that she initially had reservations about taking on such a massive franchise. She feared the level of fame and the intense fandom associated with it.

She explained, “It was so hard to explain to people. It was like I don’t think you understand this level of fame… I just assumed it was gonna be like ‘Twilight,’ like the Twilight-level fame, and that was just never something I had in mind.”

Lawrence emphasized that she wanted to pursue independent films and be known for her acting skills rather than just being the most famous person on the planet. She admitted that she would have been “miserable” if she had gotten the role in “Twilight” as it would have drastically changed the life she had envisioned for herself.

Fans of “The Hunger Games” franchise can look forward to the upcoming film, “The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes,” which explores the backstory of the villainous President Snow. Lawrence has expressed her interest in reprising her role as Katniss if given the opportunity.

In an interview with Variety, she enthusiastically said, “Oh, my God – totally! If Katniss ever could ever come back into my life, 100 percent.”
