Jen Psaki ridicules GOP’s bid to rename party from ‘pro-life’ to ‘pro-baby’.
Former White House Press Secretary Criticizes Republican Party’s Rebranding Efforts
Former White House press secretary Jen Psaki recently voiced her criticism of the Republican Party’s attempt to distance themselves from their “pro-life” label. In her view, rebranding something that customers despise is a challenging task.
Psaki’s comments come in light of reports suggesting that Republican strategists are searching for a new term to associate with the party. This move follows underwhelming election results after the landmark Roe v. Wade decision was overturned. One term reportedly being considered is “pro-baby,” but Psaki argues that a mere rebranding won’t solve the party’s problems.
“I hate to break it to you, but if you call broccoli ‘candy,’ it’s still just broccoli,” Psaki stated. “If you tie a really nice bow around a lump of coal, it is still coal under there. The branding isn’t the problem here. The policy is the problem, and no matter what they call it, the truth is, the Republican platform has long been ‘pro-life.'”
Psaki also took aim at Republican lawmakers for their opposition to food stamps and parental leave programs, arguing that such stances contradict the “pro-baby” term the party is attempting to embrace.
“It is hard to roll out an effective rebrand for a product that customers hate,” Psaki emphasized.
Supreme Court’s Ruling and Its Impact on the Republican Party
In June 2022, the Supreme Court ruled to overturn Roe v. Wade, which has since posed challenges for the Republican Party in elections against their Democratic opponents. A pre-midterm election poll revealed that half of voters were more motivated to vote due to the Supreme Court’s decision.

President Joe Biden’s reelection campaign recently launched a digital ad campaign linking former President Donald Trump to the Republican Party’s push for a national abortion ban. The ads also highlighted Biden’s support for reinstating Roe v. Wade.
On Friday, Trump praised the Supreme Court justices who voted to overturn Roe v. Wade, but he acknowledged that the decision would “probably cost” the Republican Party in the future. With Trump running for president again in 2024, a potential rematch between him and Biden looms on the horizon.
