Jen Psaki deserves ‘all the criticism’ for Usha Vance comment

The article discusses criticism directed at former White House press secretary and MSNBC host Jen Psaki for her comments about Usha Vance, the wife of Vice President JD Vance. Psaki appeared on a podcast where she made personal remarks questioning the state of the Vance marriage, implying Usha needed help and casting JD Vance as a “little manchurian candidate” focused on political ambition.Washington Examiner senior writer Joe Concha condemned Psaki’s comments as slanderous and unfounded, highlighting that there is no evidence of any issues in the Vances’ reportedly happy marriage. White House spokesperson Steven Cheung also reacted negatively too Psaki’s remarks, calling her statements untrue and a sign of personal issues. The vice president’s office did not issue a response. The controversy follows earlier backlash against the podcast host Jennifer Welch for suggesting JD Vance should be more vocal against racism due to his wife’s Indian heritage and their mixed-race children.

Jen Psaki deserves ‘all the criticism’ for Usha Vance comment: Joe Concha

Washington Examiner Senior Writer Joe Concha condemned comments made by MSNBC host Jen Psaki about second lady Usha Vance as “slander.”

Psaki appeared on Tuesday on the podcast I’ve Had It, hosted by Jennifer Welch and Angie Sullivan. Welch drew backlash for suggesting that Vice President JD Vance should be more outspoken against racism because his wife is “a woman of Indian descent” and “he has mixed-race children.”

As a guest, Psaki commented on the Vance family’s personal lives.

“I think the little manchurian candidate JD Vance wants to be president more than anything else. I always wonder what’s going on in the mind of his wife. Like, are you OK?” Psaki said. “Please blink four times. We’ll come over here. We’ll save you.”

Concha dismissed Psaki’s comments, referring to her as “Peppermint Patty” on Fox News’s Fox and Friends First on Wednesday.

“This is a national prime-time host, former White House press secretary; she is engaging in outright slander. Peppermint Patty is just making stuff up and has zero idea what she is talking about. She can’t argue about policy, so now she’s resorted to fabricated personal attacks,” Concha said. “Right now, she deserves all the criticism she is getting [from] talking about the vice president and his wife.”

“By all appearances, they seem very happily married, but this is the kind of stuff we are hearing from the Left these days. It’s all foam and no beer,” Concha said. “And again, Usha Vance, JD Vance, there is zero reporting on any problems with the marriage. She just took that out of thin air to get a soundbite for herself because Jen Psaki wanted to make herself the story.”

Usha was born to Indian immigrant parents and shares three children with the vice president: Ewan, born in 2017; Vivek, born in 2019; and Mirabel, born in 2021.

White House spokesperson Steven Cheung reacted to the clip on X on Tuesday. Cheung referred to Psaki by yet another nickname, “Psuki.”

“Jen Psuki must be transferring her own personal issues onto others,” Cheung said. “@jrpsaki is a dumb*** who has no comprehension of the truth and has to overcompensate for her lack of talent by saying untrue things. Circle back on that, moron.”

The vice president’s office did not comment on Psaki’s comments.
