Ivanka Trump Testifies in Father’s New York Fraud Case
Ivanka Trump Takes the Stand in Father’s New York Fraud Trial
Former first daughter Ivanka Trump faced questioning on Wednesday in her father’s trial for fraud in New York City. However, her testimony seemed to consist mostly of “I don’t remember,” according to a list of highlights collected by CNN.
While Ivanka Trump is not a co-defendant in the case, as the statute of limitations for any accusations against her had expired, her inability to recall details is understandable given the passage of time.
During her testimony, Ivanka Trump was asked about forwarding statements to Beal Bank regarding her father’s financial position. She couldn’t recall if she had done so at the bank’s request or if she had simply offered them.
The attorney general’s case alleges that Donald Trump committed fraud by inflating his net worth to obtain better loan terms from Deutsche Bank for the purchase and development of the Doral Golf Resort and Spa in Florida. One expert witness testified that Trump saved $168 million in interest payments through these preferred terms.
Despite her difficulty remembering certain details, Ivanka Trump did recall being nine months pregnant with her first child when she received a call about the case. She also remembered aspects of statements she had made to the attorney general’s office 18 months prior.
One email presented during her testimony showed Ivanka Trump suggesting a lower net worth requirement for her father to qualify for a Deutsche Bank loan. The bank initially required $3 billion, but they eventually agreed on $2.5 billion, while Trump’s net worth at the time was around $4.2 billion.
It remains unclear how this testimony proves fraud or attempted fraud, as CNN did not provide any suggestions in its reporting.
Ivanka Trump also testified about a meeting in 2011 regarding the Trump Organization’s attempt to secure a lease on the Old Post Office building in Washington, D.C. She stated that she did not recall discussing Donald Trump’s financial statements during that meeting.
After her cross-examination, Donald Trump’s defense team will present their case, which is expected to focus on the lack of actual victims and the fact that the bank loans were repaid.
A Note from Our Deputy Managing Editor:
I walked into the office one morning and noticed something strange. Half of The Western Journal’s readership was missing.
It had finally happened. Facebook had flipped THE switch.
Maybe it was because we wrote about ivermectin. Or election integrity. Or the Jan. 6 detainees. Or ballot mules.
Whatever the reason, I immediately knew what to do. We had to turn to you because, frankly, we know you are the only ones we can trust.
Can you help? Every donation to The Western Journal goes directly to funding our team of story researchers, writers and editors who doggedly pursue the truth and expose the corrupt elites.
Can I count on you for a small donation? We operate on a shoestring compared to other news media companies, so I can personally promise that not a penny of your donation will be wasted.
We will use every single cent to fight against the lies and corruption in high places. And as long as we have your help, we will never give up.
Sincerely,
Josh Manning
