Whoopi defends Biden for ignoring his grandchild: “Not the President’s baby.”
Whoopi Goldberg Defends President Biden’s Grandchild Situation
Whoopi Goldberg, alongside her fellow hosts on ABC’s “The View,” passionately came to President Joe Biden’s defense on Monday. They argued that it was not the president’s fault for not acknowledging his seventh grandchild.
Goldberg pointed out that Hunter Biden, the president’s son, had chosen not to embrace Navy Joan Roberts, his four-year-old daughter with former stripper Lunden Alexis Roberts. Therefore, it was unreasonable to expect President Biden to embrace the child as his granddaughter.

Goldberg referred to an op-ed in The New York Times that accused the president of “scarring” his granddaughter. The child is apparently aware that her grandfather is the President of the United States but has been ignored by him.
“So apparently his son had a baby with a woman, they fought about it, and he pays for the baby but he has not embraced the child,” Goldberg explained. “So Maureen Dowd is saying it’s bad for the child that the president has not acknowledged her. So… I kinda think, well that’s a… she should be kvetching at the son, whose baby it is. It’s not the president’s baby.”
Goldberg then opened the discussion to the rest of the hosts, and Ana Navarro immediately chimed in.
“I agree with you completely,” Navarro said. “It shouldn’t have been directed to Joe Biden, it should be directed to Hunter Biden. It’s five children, not four, Hunter, because this isn’t Joe Biden’s baby. And I think it’s very hard for Joe Biden to be a grandfather to the child if his son is not being a father.”
Navarro also criticized the right-wing and the MAGA world for using Hunter Biden’s personal struggles to attack President Biden.
During Thursday’s broadcast, Jessica Tarlov, a Democrat cohost on Fox News’ “The Five,” took a similar stance. She argued that President Biden could do more to embrace Navy Joan and encourage his son to do the same.
Tarlov called the First Family’s refusal to acknowledge the child’s existence “an ugliness that doesn’t need to be there.” She suggested that voters might be more sympathetic to the Bidens if they were to change their approach.
“I think that this is a moment where the president really could have told his son ‘enough’s enough’ — Like, ‘I’m happy to deal with all this other stuff. I’ll take it, about the business dealings, the addiction, the videos; whatever’,” Tarlov said. “But this is humanity, right? This is the face of it.”
“There are a lot of people floating around who don’t know who their family is, where they don’t know their dad is, or they were put up or they were left somewhere and they ended up with wonderful people who took care of them. But this is someone who is proud of the fact that her grandfather is the president of the United States and doesn’t get acknowledged,” she added.
