Israel warns of devastating response after Hezbollah attack in Lebanon.
Israel’s Warning to Hezbollah: “We Will Protect Our People”
Israel issued a strong warning on Tuesday, vowing to defend its citizens and sovereignty against Hezbollah, an armed Iranian-backed group. In response to weeks of tension along the border, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant stated, “Do not make a mistake. We do not want a war. But we are prepared to protect our civilians, our soldiers, and our sovereignty.”
This exchange of rhetoric is not new, as both sides have engaged in similar threats since the last Israel-Hezbollah war in 2006. However, tensions have escalated since a roadside bombing in Israel in March, which Israel attributed to a Hezbollah infiltrator.
It is important to note that Hezbollah has not claimed responsibility for the bombing.
In recent weeks, there have been confrontations between Lebanese civilians, Hezbollah operatives, and Israeli troops along the fortified frontier.
