Israel and Foreign Partners Foil Over 50 Iranian-Orchestrated Attacks
JERUSALEM—Israel and its foreign partners have successfully foiled more than 50 Iranian-orchestrated attacks on Israelis and Jews abroad in recent years, according to Israeli defense minister Yoav Gallant. This announcement was made during Gallant’s visit to Azerbaijan.
Israel and Iran have long been engaged in a Cold War-style shadow war, with both sides accusing each other of sabotage and assassination plots.
On Wednesday, Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen directly accused Iran of being behind a thwarted attempt to attack Israel’s embassy in Baku. However, Azeri officials have yet to confirm this allegation.
“At its supreme leader’s orders, Iran has waged a worldwide terror campaign of unprecedented scale, specifically targeting Israelis and Jews. We have managed to prevent more than 50 attempted attacks,” Israeli media quoted Gallant as saying.
Gallant attributed the success in foiling these attacks to the exceptional work of Israel’s security services and their close cooperation with numerous countries.
As of now, Iranian officials have not provided any immediate comment on these allegations.
