The Israel Defense Forces announced that it destroyed three Iranian F-14 fighter jets in strikes on central Iran on Saturday.
“The IDF struck F-14 fighter jets belonging to the Iranian Armed Forced in central Iran. Additionally, IAF fighter jets are currently striking military infrastructure in central Iran,” the IDF posted on X along with footage of the strikes on the F-14s, an aircraft largely considered outdated and which the U.S. Navy retired in 2006.
The aerial footage shows three separate strikes on the Iranian air force’s F-14s, with all of the jets exposed, including one that is seemingly placed right outside a hangar.
The destruction of three more Iranian F-14s by Israel means at least five have been destroyed since the war began over a week ago. At least two F-14 jets were struck in strikes by Israel‘s air force on Monday, all of which appeared to be in disuse.
The IDF has launched other strikes at the start of the weekend as part of its military campaign against the Iranian regime.
Israel said on Saturday it eliminated three more high-level commanders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, a branch of the Iranian armed forces that has been decimated by Israeli strikes.
Israel also struck Isfahan nuclear research complex, Iran’s largest nuclear facility, though Iran insisted there was no leakage of hazardous materials as a result of the attack.
Iran launched a drone attack around the same time, though all but two were intercepted by Israeli air defenses. One of those drones stuck a two-story building, causing visible damage.
The continued fighting comes as President Donald Trump is weighing U.S. involvement in the war. He arrived at the White House at around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday for a scheduled meeting with his National Security Council.
