IRS whistleblower claims inconsistencies in Hunter Biden prosecutor’s narrative.
IRS Whistleblower Reveals Inconsistencies in Hunter Biden Investigation
One of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) whistleblowers involved in the investigation of Hunter Biden has raised concerns about the explanations provided by the Department of Justice (DOJ) and Delaware’s U.S. Attorney David Weiss regarding charging authorities in the case.
During his testimony before the House Oversight Committee, IRS supervisory special agent Gary Shapley, along with special agent Joseph Ziegler, emphasized that the DOJ’s story has been changing while his own documents remain consistent.

“The story has been changing from the Department of Justice and U.S. Attorney Weiss — and the only person that’s really had any documents that have been corroborated are my own.” pic.twitter.com/rc1gOS22gq

Representative Jordan questioned Shapley about an email he sent summarizing a meeting in October 2022, where Weiss stated he was not the final decision-maker on charges and was denied special counsel authority by the Main DOJ.
In response to Shapley’s email, one of his superiors thanked him and acknowledged that he had covered all the necessary information. Jordan argued that Shapley’s public disclosure of his claims and accompanying documentation forced Weiss to change his story multiple times, while Shapley’s version remained consistent.
Initially, Weiss claimed to have “ultimate authority,” but later admitted to discussions with DOJ officials who assured him that he could bring charges outside of his district if necessary.
“It looks pretty obvious what happened. It looks pretty obvious,” Jordan stated. ”Initially everyone was pounding their chest, ‘David Weiss has complete authority.’ Now suddenly he doesn’t. He doesn’t. Because you guys came forward and told the truth.”
The investigation into Hunter Biden, which has spanned several years, has resulted in a plea deal for tax and gun violations. A hearing on the agreement is scheduled for July 26.
