Iranian terrorists launch ballistic missiles at US destroyer
Iranian-backed Houthi Terrorists Target U.S. Destroyer in Bold Attack
In a daring and brazen move, Iranian-backed Houthi terrorists in Yemen launched two ballistic missiles at a U.S. destroyer in the Gulf of Aden. This audacious act came just after midnight on Monday, following the terrorists’ failed attempt to seize a tanker connected to an Israeli businessman.
The targeted vessel, the Liberian-flagged Central Park chemical tanker, managed by Zodiac Maritime, a U.K. based firm belonging to Israeli billionaire Eyal Ofer’s Zodiac Group, was believed to have been captured earlier in the day.
However, the USS Mason and its accompanying aircraft received a distress call from the tanker, reporting that the crew was under attack. Swiftly responding to the call, the destroyer demanded the release of the crew. The five terrorists who had boarded the ship hastily retreated to their small boat, attempting to escape from the pursuing U.S. forces. Their escape, however, was short-lived as they quickly met with failure.
“At approximately 0141 on Nov. 27 Sanaa time, two ballistic missiles were fired from Houthi controlled areas in Yemen toward the general location of the USS Mason (DDG 87) and M/V Central Park,” stated U.S. Central Command. “The USS Mason (DDG87), part of the Dwight D. Eisenhower Carrier Strike Group, was concluding its response to the M/V Central Park distress call at the time of the missile launches. Fortunately, neither vessel sustained any damage or reported injuries during this incident.”
Although it remains unclear whether the missiles were intercepted, they did not reach the destroyer.
“Maritime domain security is essential to regional stability,” emphasized Gen. Michael Erik Kurilla, USCENTCOM commander. “We will continue to collaborate with allies and partners to ensure the safety and security of international shipping lanes.”
On Nov. 26, the USS Mason (DDG 87), along with allied ships from our coalition counter-piracy task force (TF 151), and associated aircraft responded to a distress call from the M/V Central Park, a commercial vessel, reporting an attack by an unknown entity. Upon arrival… pic.twitter.com/ASmM3b0xrf

Since October 17, U.S. forces in the region have faced a staggering 66 attacks from various Iranian-backed terrorists. This wave of aggression began just 10 days after Hamas terrorists, also supported by Iran, launched an unprecedented assault on Israel.
Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR) asserted on Sunday that the only effective response to these attacks would be a “massive retaliation” to send a clear message that Americans will not tolerate such acts of aggression.
How does the attack on the USS Mason raise questions about the effectiveness of the Iran Nuclear Deal in curbing Iran’s support for terrorism
Tion of the USS Mason operating in the Gulf of Aden. Both missiles impacted the water before reaching the ship,” said Jeff Davis, a Pentagon spokesman.
This attack comes at a time of heightened tension between Iran and the United States. Since the signing of the Iran Nuclear Deal in 2015, the relationship between the two countries has been strained. The deal, which aimed to limit Iran’s nuclear capabilities in exchange for the lifting of economic sanctions, has been a source of contention, with critics arguing that Iran has not fully upheld its end of the agreement.
Iran’s support for Houthi rebels in Yemen has also been a concern for the United States and its allies. The Houthi rebels, who emerged as a powerful force in Yemen in 2014, have been engaged in a bloody conflict with the internationally recognized government. Iran’s backing of the rebels has been seen as an attempt to expand its influence in the region and challenge Saudi Arabia, its regional rival.
The attack on the USS Mason marks a significant escalation in the conflict. By targeting a U.S. Navy ship, the Houthi rebels have crossed a line that could have serious consequences. The United States has previously responded to Houthi attacks on its ships, launching airstrikes against Houthi targets in Yemen. It is yet to be seen how the United States will respond to this latest attack.
The attack also raises questions about the effectiveness of the Iran Nuclear Deal in curbing Iran’s support for terrorism. Critics of the deal argue that it has not done enough to address Iran’s destabilizing activities in the region. This attack on a U.S. Navy ship adds weight to their argument and highlights the need for further action.
The United States, along with its allies, must now carefully consider its response. Any action taken must be measured and calculated to avoid further escalation of the conflict. However, a strong show of force may be necessary to deter future attacks and protect the interests of the United States and its allies.
In conclusion, the attack on the USS Mason by Iranian-backed Houthi terrorists in Yemen is a clear demonstration of the growing threat posed by Iran and its proxies in the region. It highlights the need for a robust and coordinated response from the United States and its allies to counter this threat and ensure the safety and security of international waters. The United States cannot afford to ignore or underestimate the actions of these terrorists and must take decisive action to protect its interests and maintain peace and stability in the region.
