Iran launches retaliatory attacks on Gulf States after US-Israel operation
Following a joint US-Israel operation against Iran, Iran launched a wave of retaliatory strikes against Gulf states and regional targets. President Donald Trump announced that the United states had begun major combat operations in iran to eliminate imminent threats. Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps said the first phase of Operation True Promise 4 targeted regional aggressors,including the U.S. Fifth fleet base in Bahrain. Explosions were reported across the Middle East, including in Israel, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Qatar, and Kuwait, with the UAE condemning the attacks as a violation of its sovereignty and saying it reserved the right to respond. Most missiles in the UAE were intercepted by air defenses, and UA.news reported a civilian death in Dubai, though this is not independently verified.Israel reported interceptions of Iranian missiles over Haifa and Tel Aviv, with a strike on a northern town’s site confirmed; Saudi Arabia said Riyadh and its eastern province were attacked. The largest U.S. base in the region, Al Udeid in Qatar, reportedly sustained no damage. Iran launched a wave of retaliatory strikes against countries in the Middle East, following the United States and Israel’s joint military attack on Saturday morning.
President Donald Trump announced that the U.S. launched “major combat operations” in Iran early Saturday. Trump said the purpose of the attack was to defend Americans by “eliminating imminent threats” from the Iranian regime.
Following the United States and Israel joint strikes, explosions were reported at various cities around the Middle East, including in Israel, Bahrain, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps said its target in Bahrain was the U.S. Navy’s Fifth Fleet base.
“In response to the aggression of the criminal U.S. military and the child-killing Zionist regime, and with divine assistance, the first phase of Operation True Promise 4 has commenced, marked by extensive strikes carried out by the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran against regional targets of the aggressor,” the IRGC said in a statement.
The UAE condemned the attack as a “flagrant violation” of its sovereignty and said it reserved the right to respond.
Most of the missiles in the UAE were intercepted by air defense systems. Video obtained by UA.News showing local air defense systems intercepting missiles over a beach in Dubai, with reports indicating that one civilian was killed, according to UA.news.
Iran’s proxies have not yet carried out retaliatory attacks related to the strikes against Iran. The U.S. and Israel have similarly not attacked those proxies, which are located in Gaza, Lebanon, Yemen, Syria, and Iraq.
CONGRESS SPLIT ON TRUMP’S IRAN STRIKES
Since the attacks began, air raid sirens have been going off in central Israel, the country’s most densely populated region, alerting Israelis to take cover.
The Israeli defense system intercepted Iranian missiles over Haifa and Tel Aviv. Authorities announced there has been one impacted site since the launches began this morning in a town in Northern Israel. No casualties have been reported so far.
Saudi Arabia’s foreign ministry reported that there had been “blatant and cowardly Iranian attacks” on its capital, Riyadh, and in the eastern province. The statement noted that the attacks came after Saudi Arabia said it wouldn’t give access to its airspace or territory used to target Iran.
The largest U.S. military installation in the region, the Al Udeid Air Base, is located in Qatar. The country’s Interior Ministry said the attack caused no damage to the base.
Since Saturday’s attack, there has been reporting that Iran has been plunged into a near-total internet blackout.

Cloudflare Radar, a platform that provides insights into global internet traffic patterns, reported that internet traffic is “close to zero across all major regions,” with a “near complete shutdown” in Tehran, Fars, Isfahan, Alborz Province, and Razavi Khorasan. These reports haven’t been verified.
There are no current reports that the internet blackout is a cybersecurity attack by either Israeli or American cyber forces.
