The president of a synagogue board in Detroit, Michigan was tragically discovered stabbed to death outside her home.
According to police, Samantha Woll, the president of the board of the Isaac Agree Downtown Synagogue, was tragically found fatally stabbed outside her home on Saturday.
The Synagogue posted on Facebook after the news broke, expressing their shock and sadness over the loss.
“We are shocked and saddened to learn of the unexpected death of Samantha Woll, our Board President,” the synagogue said. “May her memory be a blessing.”
The Detroit Police Department released a statement stating that they received a call about an unresponsive person lying on the ground.
Upon arrival, police discovered a ”trail of blood” leading to Woll’s residence, where her body was found with multiple stab wounds.
Although her body was found outside, authorities believe that the fatal crime occurred inside the home.
Police Chief James White issued a statement, assuring the public that a thorough investigation is underway and the motive behind the stabbing remains unknown.
“Understandably, this crime leaves many unanswered questions,” White said. “This matter is under investigation, and I am asking that everyone remain patient while investigators carefully examine every aspect of the available evidence.”
He emphasized the importance of not drawing conclusions until all the facts have been reviewed and promised to release additional information about the investigation.
Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan (D-Mich.) expressed his grief over Woll’s death, stating that it has left a significant void in the Detroit community, especially considering the recent celebration of the Synagogue’s renovation.
Governor Gretchen Whitmer (D-Mich.) also expressed her condolences to Woll’s family and friends.
“My heart breaks for her family, her friends, her synagogue, and all those who were lucky enough to know her. She was a source of light, a beacon in her community who worked hard to make Michigan a better place,” Whitmer said.
