Fox News Host Laura Ingraham Mocks Voters’ Hopes for Student Loan Forgiveness

In a recent episode of The Ingraham Angle, Fox News host Laura Ingraham took a jab at voters who supported Democrats in the hopes of having their student loan debts forgiven. Ingraham criticized the Democrats for not taking effective action to eliminate student loans through legislation.

“They could have eliminated student loans through legislation or at least tried to do that, but they didn’t. Instead, they pretended to do something that never had a chance of surviving Supreme Court scrutiny,” Ingraham said.

Supreme Court Ruling Deals Blow to Biden’s Student Debt Plan

Ingraham’s comments came in response to the Supreme Court ruling against President Joe Biden in the case of Biden v. Nebraska. The Court’s decision dealt a major blow to Biden’s plan to forgive student loan debts.

“If you’re someone who voted for the Democrats because you thought your student loans would be forgiven or if you voted for Democrats because you thought that you’re going to get a big pile of something in the form of reparations: Well, I’m here to tell you that you were played for a fool,” Ingraham continued. “The left knew exactly what they were doing. They knew that this wasn’t going to be upheld by the Court. And they don’t have any intention of writing checks to anyone for reparations.”

Bernie Sanders Calls on Biden to Cancel Student Debt

Meanwhile, Senator Bernie Sanders has urged President Biden to utilize the authority granted under the Higher Education Act of 1965 to cancel student loan debt. In response, Biden made a statement promising to release certain loans through this method.

Additionally, Biden announced that for the 12 months following the pause on student loan payments, borrowers enrolled in his new “On Ramp Repayment Program” will not be referred to creditors if they miss a payment.

The Supreme Court justices ruled 6-3 that the plan to cancel $400 billion in student loan debt was unconstitutional.
