A Southern Indiana woman takes action to protect her husband
According to investigators, on Monday evening, a 45-year-old man named Micheal Chastain drove through the front yard of a couple’s house in Southern Indiana. He then proceeded to hold the husband at gunpoint, forcing him to the ground. In a courageous act, the wife witnessed the terrifying scene from inside the house and took matters into her own hands. She grabbed her handgun and shot Chastain, ultimately saving her husband’s life.
Upon receiving a 9-1-1 call about the incident, Washington County Sheriff’s officers quickly arrived at the scene. They found Chastain lying on the front yard with a gunshot wound. He was immediately transported to Saint Vincent Hospital in Salem, Indiana, but unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries.
State Police revealed that Chastain had a criminal background, adding to the complexity of the situation. It was also discovered that he had previously dated the homeowner’s daughter, although she no longer resides in the house where the incident occurred. Authorities are still trying to determine the motive behind his attack on the husband.
As of now, the wife has not been charged, and it remains uncertain if any charges will be filed against her. The Washington County Prosecutor’s Office will eventually handle the case.
The identities of the heroic couple have not yet been released to the public.
