Ilhan Omar admires Tlaib: ‘Caring and Guarding Mama Bear’
Hard-left Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) praises fellow leftist Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) as “loving and protective”
On October 11, Rep. Jack Bergman (R-MI) filed a censure resolution against Tlaib, accusing her of making anti-Semitic and anti-Israeli remarks.
Tlaib had released a statement following the October 7 Hamas attack on Israel, in which she refused to condemn Hamas. Bergman stated, “While we don’t all have to agree on every issue, we should all be able to recognize the heinousness of terrorists raping women, murdering festivalgoers, and decapitating babies. We must condemn this unbridled evil in the world.”
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) introduced a resolution censuring Tlaib, stating that members of Congress who denounce the United States while praising terrorist organizations are unfit to hold office.

Omar tweeted, “We lovingly call @RashidaTlaib Mama Bear because she is loving and protective. She shows humanity to colleagues who constantly dehumanize her and those who share our faith. She loves the people she represents regardless of who they are. I am my sister’s keeper and I will walk through fire for her. I admire her leadership and conviction. People can harass or try to censure her, but she will never be forced into submission. None of us will.”

Last week, after Omar promoted terrorist propaganda falsely claiming Israel bombed a hospital and killed 500 people, Fox News correspondent Hillary Vaughn confronted Omar on Capitol Hill, asking, “Congresswoman, are you okay with Hamas terrorists continuing to exist?”
Omar refused to answer.
“How can Israel have a ceasefire with terrorists whose sole mission is to wipe them out?” Vaughn pressed.
Omar remained silent.

Omar had tweeted, “Bombing a hospital is among the gravest of war crimes. The IDF reportedly blew up one of the few places where the injured and wounded could seek medical treatment and shelter during a war. @POTUS needs to push for an immediate ceasefire to end this slaughter.”
U.S. Intelligence later confirmed that there was evidence of a rocket or missile launch from Palestinian fighter positions within Gaza, hitting the hospital’s parking lot.
In mid-October, Omar promoted propaganda that falsely depicted children as having died from Israeli military operations when they had actually died a decade ago in Syria.
Ilhan Omar has reposted an image purported to be from Gaza but is actually a 2013 image of child victims of the Assad regime’s Eastern Ghouta gas attack.

How is the Democratic Party responding to the allegations against Tlaib and Omar, and is there a divide within the party on this issue
Asked, but Omar continued to ignore the question and walked away.
Omar’s praise of Tlaib comes amidst mounting allegations of anti-Semitism and radicalism within the Democratic Party. Tlaib herself has a history of making controversial statements, including advocating for the boycott of Israel and making remarks deemed anti-Semitic.
In 2019, Tlaib faced backlash for using anti-Semitic tropes when she accused members of Congress of having dual loyalty to Israel. She has also been a vocal supporter of the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement, which seeks to pressure Israel into changing its policies towards Palestinians.
The censure resolutions filed against Tlaib reflect growing concerns over her controversial statements and actions. Many argue that members of Congress should be held accountable for their rhetoric, especially when it promotes hatred and supports terrorist organizations.
However, there are also those within the Democratic Party who defend Tlaib and Omar, dismissing the allegations as politically motivated attacks. They argue that criticizing Israel or voicing support for Palestinians does not equate to anti-Semitism or supporting terrorism.
It is clear that the issue of anti-Semitism and radicalism within the Democratic Party remains a contentious and divisive topic. While some lawmakers are calling for accountability and censure, others continue to stand by their colleagues, praising them for their supposed resilience and courage.
Ultimately, the decision on whether to censure Tlaib will be up to Congress. It remains to be seen how the Democratic Party will handle these allegations and whether they will take any action against their own members.
In the meantime, the controversy surrounding Tlaib and Omar continues to fuel the ongoing debate over the role of pro-Palestinian activism and criticism of Israel within American politics.
