If Trump can face charges for ‘inciting’ crimes, Biden should be held accountable for his involvement in Laken Riley’s murder
Trump and Biden: A Tale of Double Standards
Former President Donald Trump finds himself facing trial in an election year, accused of influencing others to commit crimes. Meanwhile, President Joe Biden, despite his encouragement of certain actions, will escape charges due to his position as the ruling incumbent and his affiliation with the Democratic Party.
In a tragic incident, a Venezuelan immigrant named Jose Antonio Ibarra allegedly murdered 22-year-old nursing student Laken Hope Riley while she was out jogging by the lake at the University of Georgia.
Authorities swiftly arrested Ibarra and charged him with felonies related to the murder. It was later confirmed by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) that Ibarra had entered the United States illegally and had a previous arrest in New York.
Biden’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) secretary, Alejandro Mayorkas, faced impeachment earlier this month for the administration’s actions that encouraged a surge in migration. House Republicans accused Mayorkas of violating the law by prioritizing alternatives to parole. These initiatives not only allowed individuals like Ibarra to enter and remain in the U.S. illegally but were also deemed illegal themselves.
While the House of Representatives may not be a courtroom, it holds the power to determine what is impeachable. In 2021, House Democrats voted to convict Trump for the Jan. 6 Capitol riot. If Trump is held responsible for the events of that day, then Biden should be held accountable for the crimes committed by migrants flooding the southern border.
A report from the Department of Justice (DOJ) in 2021 revealed that 64 percent of federal arrests in 2018 involved non-U.S. citizens, despite this group only accounting for 7 percent of the total population, according to the Heritage Foundation.
Interestingly, as migrants like Ibarra enter the U.S. from Venezuela, the South American nation is experiencing a decrease in violent crime. Venezuela has seen violent deaths reach a 22-year low. In other words, Venezuela seems to be exporting its criminals to the U.S. borders.
Unfortunately, Trump is unlikely to receive a fair trial in Washington, D.C. The hyperbolic reaction to the Capitol riot has influenced the perception of the event, making it difficult for jurors to remain impartial.
Two years after being acquitted in the Senate, Trump now faces charges related to the Jan. 6 demonstrations. However, there is a possibility that some of these charges may be dismissed pending a Supreme Court ruling on the Justice Department’s use of a federal statute for “obstruction of an official proceeding.”
The judge presiding over Trump’s trial is Tanya Chutkan, known for being tough on Capitol rioters.

Chutkan has a reputation for handing down sentences that match or exceed prosecutors’ recommendations, even when they don’t seek jail time.
A poll conducted last summer revealed that a majority of D.C. residents are eager to convict Trump, further raising concerns about a fair trial.

How can double standards in the treatment of politicians like Trump and Biden affect the justice system and equality in the United States
Prov noreferrer”>22-year low. This raises questions about the role of immigration policies and the potential impact on crime rates both in the U.S. and abroad.
Double standards in the treatment of Trump and Biden extend beyond immigration. Trump was repeatedly criticized for his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, with accusations of misinformation and mismanagement. However, Biden has faced significantly less scrutiny despite some similar missteps, such as his initial skepticism of the COVID-19 vaccine and the ongoing supply chain issues affecting the distribution of tests and other medical supplies.
While it is important to hold leaders accountable for their actions, regardless of their political affiliation, it is equally crucial to ensure fairness and consistency. The American public deserves a justice system that treats all individuals, including politicians, equally under the law.
Regardless of one’s political beliefs, it is clear that double standards exist when it comes to the treatment of Trump and Biden. These double standards undermine the principles of justice and equality that are foundational to the American democracy.
As the nation looks ahead to the next election cycle, it is important for voters and politicians to critically examine the actions and behavior of candidates, regardless of their party affiliation. Holding all elected officials to the same standard will ultimately lead to a stronger and more equitable democracy.
Double standards in politics and the justice system have detrimental effects on the trust and confidence that the public has in its leaders. The American people must demand accountability and fairness from their elected officials to ensure a just and equal society.
It is only through a commitment to fairness and consistency that the United States can maintain its reputation as a beacon of democracy and uphold the values that it holds dear.
