Israel’s military has issued a warning to residents in north Gaza, urging them to evacuate to the south as a ground invasion is imminent.
According to the United Nations (U.N.), Israel’s military has instructed everyone in northern Gaza to relocate to the south within 24 hours.
Despite the warning from Israel, Hamas has urged its citizens to disregard the evacuation order and remain in Gaza.
The evacuation order was issued by Israel’s military to minimize civilian casualties in the conflict with Hamas. Despite Hamas’ opposition, Israel has been distributing flyers in the affected areas to ensure people are aware of the situation.
Stéphane Dujarric, a U.N. spokesperson, addressed the IDF’s warning to Gaza.
“Today, just before midnight local time, team leaders of the UN Office of the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and the Department of Safety and Security in Gaza were informed by their liaison officers in the Israeli military that the entire population of Gaza north of Wadi Gaza should relocate to southern Gaza within the next 24 hours,” he said. “This amounts to approximately 1.1 million people. The same order applied to all UN staff and those sheltered in UN facilities – including schools, health centers, and clinics.”
He expressed concern over the feasibility of such a mass movement and warned of a potential humanitarian disaster.
“We consider it impossible for such a movement to take place without devastating humanitarian consequences,” Dujarric said.
He strongly appealed for the evacuation order to be rescinded, emphasizing that it could worsen an already tragic situation.
Israeli U.N. Ambassador Gilad Erdan criticized the U.N.’s response to Israel’s early warning, calling it “shameful” and accusing the U.N. of overlooking the brutality of the attack on Israel.
In Israel, the death toll stands at over 1,300, including 258 soldiers, with more than 3,300 injured. In Gaza, nearly 1,850 people have been killed and another 7,300 injured.

Israel’s Military Evacuation Order
Israel’s military has issued a warning to residents in north Gaza, instructing them to relocate to the south within 24 hours.
