Sarah Bedford argues that the treatment of Hunter Biden highlights the existence of a “two-tiered” justice system
The Double Standard: Hunter Biden’s Treatment Compared to Others
The Washington Examiner’s Sarah Bedford recently delved into the stark contrast between how Hunter Biden has been handled in comparison to individuals facing similar charges.
During her appearance on America Reports, Bedford discussed Biden’s involvement with Ukrainian energy company Burisma. She highlighted the fact that while Biden had not registered as a foreign agent during his time there, he later retroactively registered. In contrast, former President Donald Trump’s staffers, Paul Manafort and Rick Gaetz, faced consequences under the Foreign Agents Registration Act for failing to register and were not allowed to retroactively file like Biden.
“Not disclosing your work with a foreign entity is a crime that the Justice Department during the Trump administration started enforcing far more aggressively. So that alone is likely to reinforce these claims that there’s a two-tiered standard of justice here,” Bedford explained. “What Hunter Biden did for Burisma is not legal work as first presented. The White House, at the time, said he’s a Yale-trained lawyer providing legal services to Burisma.”
Bedford further emphasized that there is no evidence of Biden actually providing legal work for Burisma. Instead, witnesses like Devin Archer have stated that Biden offered access to influential individuals in Washington, which Bedford described as ”textbook foreign lobbying.”
Host John Roberts concurred, referring to Biden as a “foreign agent.”
Bedford also highlighted another instance of unequal treatment, specifically regarding Biden’s defiance of a congressional subpoena. U.S. Attorney Matthew Graves has already decided not to charge Biden with tax crimes, despite him facing such charges in California.
“This same U.S. attorney did prosecute other Trump administration officials, including Steve Bannon, for contempt of Congress,” Bedford pointed out. ”You may have more accusations of a two-tiered system here.”
Biden is currently facing nine criminal charges in California, including a gun possession charge. He recently pleaded not guilty during his first court appearance. Additionally, House Republicans are planning to hold Biden in contempt of Congress.

Why is it important to hold all individuals accountable for their actions, regardless of their political affiliations or connections
S former national security adviser Michael Flynn was charged with lying to the FBI about his contacts with foreign officials and was not granted such leniency.
Bedford also pointed out the difference in media coverage between Biden and other individuals in similar situations. For example, she mentioned the case of Paul Manafort, former campaign chairman for Donald Trump, who faced extensive media scrutiny and was ultimately sentenced to prison for tax and bank fraud charges.
Another glaring example is that of General Michael Flynn, who was investigated for his communications with the Russian ambassador during the transition period of the Trump administration. Flynn was charged and pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI, closing a case that many argued was an attempt to undermine the Trump presidency. However, while Flynn faced intense media scrutiny and was ultimately pardoned by President Trump, the coverage of his case pales in comparison to the leniency shown to Hunter Biden.
It is impossible to ignore the double standard that exists when it comes to the treatment of individuals based on their political affiliations or connections. While the media and certain members of the political establishment are quick to jump on and amplify any allegations against individuals associated with conservatives or Republicans, they seem to hesitate or conveniently ignore similar allegations involving liberals or Democrats.
This double standard becomes even more apparent when you consider the impact it has on the public’s perception and trust in the justice system. When individuals see such discrepancies in how charges are handled, it erodes their faith in the fairness and impartiality of the legal system. It raises questions about whether justice is truly blind or if it is influenced by political motivations.
This issue is not limited to the case of Hunter Biden. It extends to many other high-profile cases where the media and the justice system have treated individuals differently based on their political leanings. The concept of equal justice under the law is a fundamental principle of a democratic society. When that principle is compromised, it undermines the very fabric of our democracy.
It is crucial that we hold all individuals, regardless of their political affiliations, accountable for their actions. The selective treatment of individuals based on their connections or political leanings undermines the credibility of our justice system and undermines our democracy as a whole. To maintain the integrity of our legal system, we must demand equal treatment for all individuals, regardless of their last name or political party.
In conclusion, the disparate treatment of Hunter Biden compared to others facing similar charges is a glaring example of the double standard that exists in our society. The media’s role in amplifying certain cases while conveniently ignoring others only exacerbates this problem. It is imperative that we address this double standard and demand equal justice under the law for all individuals, regardless of their political connections or affiliations.
