Hunter Biden files lawsuit against Trump aide over laptop disclosures.
Hunter Biden Files Lawsuit Against Former Trump Aide Over Publication of Embarrassing Emails
The lawyers of President Joe Biden‘s son, Hunter Biden, have taken legal action by filing a lawsuit against an aide in the White House of former president Donald Trump. The lawsuit alleges that the aide, Garrett Ziegler, played a role in the publication of embarrassing emails and images from Hunter Biden’s laptop.
The lawsuit, filed in a California federal court, accuses Ziegler of violating California’s computer fraud and data access laws. It demands a jury trial and seeks justice for the unauthorized access and dissemination of “tens of thousands of emails, thousands of photos, and dozens of videos and recordings” belonging to Hunter Biden.
The suit further accuses Ziegler and other unnamed defendants of tampering with and damaging computer data that they do not own. Such actions can carry serious consequences, including imprisonment or fines, under California law.
The accessed and copied data includes sensitive information such as Hunter Biden’s credit card details, financial and bank records, and data typically found in a consumer reporting agency file. The suit claims that Ziegler bypassed technical barriers specifically designed to prevent unauthorized access to this information.
In addition to seeking legal remedies, the lawsuit also requests an injunction to prevent Ziegler from continuing to access or tamper with Hunter Biden’s data.
In response to the lawsuit, Ziegler stated that he had not yet been officially served but had read about it. He dismissed the lawsuit, stating that it holds no value and that his actions are protected by state and federal laws and regulations.
It is worth noting that Hunter Biden filed this lawsuit one day after an impeachment inquiry into his father was announced. House speaker Kevin McCarthy initiated the inquiry, accusing President Joe Biden of benefiting from his son’s foreign business ventures during his time as vice president. The White House denies these allegations.
Separately, U.S. prosecutors have stated their intention to seek an indictment of Hunter Biden by September 29 in a tax and firearms case.
