Hunter Biden plea: IRS whistleblower’s testimony exposes ‘power abuse’ endangering US at Oversight hearing.

Testimony from IRS Whistleblowers⁢ Exposes Threats ⁣to‍ Ethical Standards⁢ and Abuse of⁣ Power

Testimony from ‌IRS‍ whistleblowers, one of ⁤whom‌ will⁣ reveal himself ⁣for⁣ the⁣ first time ‍on Wednesday,⁤ will⁣ detail the “corrosion of⁢ ethical standards ⁣and the ⁢abuse of power that threaten”⁣ the⁣ United ⁤States, according to ⁢written ⁤testimony‍ obtained by the ⁤Washington ⁤Examiner.

The whistleblowers⁢ have come ⁤forward‌ alleging politicization ⁢in the‍ investigation into‌ Hunter Biden ⁤and his⁣ family. Both the ‌unnamed ‍IRS agent, ⁣referred‍ to ⁣as⁤ “Whistleblower ⁤X,”‌ and veteran ⁤IRS⁣ Supervisory Special‍ Agent Gary Shapley will appear ‌at‌ the public hearing, according⁣ to House⁤ Oversight Committee ⁢Chairman ⁢James⁢ Comer ⁢(R-KY).

In addition to alleging⁢ political obstruction‍ by the Justice⁣ Department ‍in the Biden family‍ investigation, ⁢both whistleblowers⁤ claimed they‍ were ‌retaliated against for⁢ raising ‌such concerns. Comer ‍said he does not⁢ expect ⁢new information⁣ to⁤ be uncovered‍ on⁣ Wednesday ⁤but ‌that he ⁤wants to “see⁤ what the IRS whistleblowers think” regarding information⁢ his ‍committee has uncovered.

Whistleblower X said⁢ his testimony is not ‍meant as “an⁣ attack⁤ on any specific ⁤individual or ‍political⁢ party,” ⁣but⁤ rather,⁢ he aims ⁤to “address systemic problems ⁣that⁣ have ⁣allowed misconduct to ⁢flourish.”

Shapley ⁣said that the “handling of ⁤the Hunter ‌Biden tax investigation ‌was‌ very ⁢different ⁤from any‍ other⁤ case‌ in ‍my 14‍ years ⁣at⁢ the IRS”⁤ and said there was a clear⁤ difference in how ⁢the Hunter Biden ‌investigation was handled and how‍ others‍ are.

“At⁢ every stage⁤ decisions were made that⁢ benefited ⁣the subject of the investigation,” Shapley testified.

Hunter Biden reached a⁣ plea ⁢deal on⁤ federal‌ charges related to tax ⁣crimes and the ‌illegal purchase of ⁤a ‌handgun ⁣while ⁢he was⁢ an illicit‌ drug‍ user⁤ in⁤ June. Republicans lambasted it⁢ as a “sweetheart deal,”⁣ and ‌just under⁢ half ⁢the country ‌believed President Joe Biden’s⁤ son was shown ⁢preferential ⁢treatment by avoiding prison time.

Both ⁣whistleblowers struck ⁢a sobering note⁣ in⁢ their ‌testimony, saying⁤ they knew coming ⁣forward would result in ⁢unwanted ⁢attention and ⁢perhaps even retaliation, but that⁤ it‍ was ⁣incumbent upon⁢ them⁢ to do⁣ what ‍was⁤ right.

“The⁤ American people ⁣deserve to ⁣know ⁢the⁤ truth, no ⁢matter ⁤how ⁣uncomfortable ‍or inconvenient it may be‌ for ‌either political party or those in power,”⁢ Whistleblower X testified.

In his ⁤testimony, Shapley ⁤was adamant‍ that‍ he gains ‌nothing from his‍ coming forward,⁢ and that he is “putting ‌myself at risk for the‌ American ⁢people who⁣ support me ⁢and ‍for those ‍who do not.”

Whistleblower X and Shapley ‍spoke‍ to the House Ways‍ and Means Committee in ‍May‌ and⁣ testified‌ that⁢ U.S. Attorney ⁢David‌ Weiss of Delaware ⁣had been ⁢blocked from ‍charging ‍the ⁤president’s son in a criminal ‌tax ‌investigation⁣ in two separate‌ jurisdictions, California and Washington, D.C.
