Hugh Grant despised being an Oompa Loompa in the new ‘Wonka’ film, calling it a painful burden

Hugh Grant Opens Up About His Hated Role as an Oompa ‍Loompa⁣ in “Wonka”⁤ Movie

Hugh Grant is once ‍again sharing his unfiltered thoughts with the public, this time telling the⁢ world‍ how much he “hated” his role of an Oompa Loompa in the new ‍“Wonka” movie.

The 63-year-old British actor ⁤ made his feelings known ‌while ‌speaking at‌ a press conference for the movie, per ⁤ Metro UK.

“Drivel,” Grant⁢ said of the project. “It was like a crown of thorns, very ⁤uncomfortable.”

He specifically‍ mentioned how he didn’t care to‌ have multiple cameras focused on him all at‌ once to help animators capture his⁣ movements, the outlet noted.

“I made a big fuss about it,” he added. “I couldn’t have hated the whole thing more.”

Grant also said he‍ didn’t know if he was ⁢supposed to‍ act with just his face or his whole body, a problem he claims was never resolved.

“I never received‍ a satisfactory answer,” the ‌”Notting Hill” star said. “And frankly, what I⁣ did with my body was terrible,‍ and it’s all been replaced ‍with an animator.”

He continued, “It’s very confusing, with CGI now — you can’t tell what’s going on.”

This ⁣isn’t the first time Grant has disparaged his own work. In 2014, he told late night ⁤host James Corden‍ he would “happily shred my ⁢IMDb ⁢page, my CV, because I specialized in being bad for decades.”

“Wonka” is a prequel to Roald Dahl’s children’s⁤ book, “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” and follows chocolatier Willy Wonka as a ‍young man before he becomes the eccentric character in the story. The original book was previously adapted into the popular movie “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory” ⁤(1971) and a‌ Johnny Depp-led remake, “Charlie ‌and the ⁣Chocolate Factory,” in ⁣2005.

“Wonka” stars Timothée Chalamet as the titular character, and critics are already⁤ praising him‍ for his⁣ performance. Film director Paul King told the Metro in July that ‍he envisioned Grant ‍was an Oompa Loompa ⁤because of ⁤his cantankerous demeanor.

“So I was‍ really just thinking about that character; somebody who‍ could‌ be a ⁢real s***, and then — ah! Hugh,” King said. “Because he’s the funniest, ⁣most sarcastic s*** I’ve ever met.”

Why did Grant express frustration and embarrassment about ⁢his role in “Wonka

Swer,” Grant said. “It⁣ was just confusion the whole time.”

The actor further expressed his frustration with the role, stating that he felt like a “clown” and that it was embarrassing for⁤ him to be a part of the movie.

“I thought I was ⁢above this kind ⁢of nonsense,” Grant explained. “But I guess I was wrong.”

Despite his dislike for the role, Grant mentioned that he is contractually obligated‍ to promote the film and attend its premiere. However, he stated that he will ⁤not be‌ watching the movie himself.

“I don’t need to see it to know how terrible it is,” he said. “I just hope no one else has ⁤to go through what I did.”

Grant’s candid remarks about his role ⁤as⁣ an Oompa Loompa‍ have sparked mixed reactions⁤ from ‍fans and critics. Some‌ have praised ⁤him for⁣ his honesty⁤ and willingness to speak‌ out against a project he disliked, while others have criticized him for being ungrateful ‌and disrespectful towards the film and its creators.

This is not the first time Grant has been vocal about his‍ thoughts and opinions.⁣ In the past,‌ he has spoken out about⁣ various issues in the entertainment industry, including his⁢ dislike for certain film roles and his views on fame and privacy.

While opinions on Grant’s remarks may be divided, one thing is clear – he is a talented actor who doesn’t shy away from expressing ‍his true feelings. ⁢Whether you agree‌ with him or not, it is undeniable that his honesty adds an interesting⁣ layer to the conversation surrounding his role in “Wonka”⁤ movie.
