Kevin McCarthy, House Speaker, explains the beginning of Biden impeachment inquiry.
House Speaker Kevin McCarthy: Impeachment Inquiry into President Biden Will Require House Floor Vote
In a recent interview, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) emphasized that any decision to pursue an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden would only be made after a formal vote on the House floor.
This announcement follows reports suggesting that Republicans might adopt a strategy similar to that of former Speaker of the House, Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), who initiated an impeachment inquiry into former President Donald Trump without a congressional vote.
“To open an impeachment inquiry is a serious matter, and House Republicans would not take it lightly or use it for political purposes. The American people deserve to be heard on this matter through their elected representatives,” McCarthy told Breitbart News. “That’s why, if we move forward with an impeachment inquiry, it would occur through a vote on the floor of the People’s House and not through a declaration by one person.”
In order to initiate the impeachment inquiry into Biden, a minimum of 218 members of Congress would need to vote in favor. This would grant lawmakers access to a broader range of investigative and legal tools.
Republicans have been steadily uncovering new information regarding alleged corruption involving President Biden and his son, Hunter Biden.

The most prominent examples of alleged Biden corruption include accusations that then-Vice President Biden accepted a bribe from a Ukrainian energy executive to leverage his position as a U.S. official in order to pressure Ukraine into firing a prosecutor investigating the executive’s company. Another investigation revolves around claims that U.S. prosecutors and officials obstructed an inquiry into Hunter Biden while granting him preferential treatment.
