House Oversight Democrats want former prince Andrew to testify
Four Democratic members of the U.S.House of Representatives have called on former British Prince andrew to testify in the United States regarding his association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. This demand follows the release of emails showing that Prince Andrew sought to “catch up” with Epstein shortly after Epstein’s prison release.Representatives suhas Subramanyam and Raja Krishnamoorthi emphasized that if the prince wants to clear his name and do right by Epstein’s victims, he should voluntarily come forward, either in person or remotely with legal representation. Krishnamoorthi also noted the possibility of subpoenaing Andrew but acknowledged challenges if he remains outside the U.S. Prince Andrew, who was stripped of his royal titles by King Charles III due to his ties to Epstein and related sexual assault allegations, had previously settled a civil case with accuser Virginia Giuffre, who died by suicide in 2025. The House Oversight Committee, which these Democrats serve on, has been actively pushing for transparency by releasing thousands of pages of documents related to the Epstein case. The article also references former President Donald Trump’s opposition to continued investigations into Epstein and his legal actions over related media stories. The lawmakers urge Prince Andrew to voluntarily testify before Congress rather than wait for a subpoena.
Democrats want Andrew to testify as records show he asked Epstein to ‘catch up’ after prison release
Four House Democrats called on the former British prince, Andrew Mountbatten Windsor, on Friday to testify in the United States about his connection with Jeffrey Epstein.
The call came after emails were released showing that Windsor hoped to “catch up” with Epstein shortly after he was released from prison.
“If he wants to clear his name, if he wants to do right by the victims, he will come forward,” Rep. Suhas Subramanyam (D-VA) told the BBC.
Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL) also said he would be willing to subpoena the former prince. However, this would be difficult to enforce while he remained outside of the U.S.
Subramanyam suggested that Windsor could appear remotely and have his lawyer present.
“However, if Andrew wishes to come to the United States or he’s here, then he’s subject to the jurisdiction of the US Congress, and I would expect him to testify,” Krishnamoorthi added.
The scandal-ridden prince was stripped of his title and evicted from his royal lodge by his brother, King Charles III. He had been disgraced by his ties to Epstein and accusations of sexual assault from Virginia Giuffre. They settled out of court in 2022, and Giuffre died by suicide in April 2025.
The Democratic congressmen are members of the House Oversight Committee. The committee has been at the forefront of the battle over the release of materials about the Epstein case. The House Oversight Committee released in September more than 33,000 pages of documents related to Epstein provided by the Department of Justice.
A TIMELINE OF TRUMP AND EPSTEIN’S RELATIONSHIP, FROM FRIENDSHIP TO FALLOUT AND BEYOND
President Donald Trump has opposed any continued investigation into the Epstein case. He sued the Wall Street Journal for libel over an article stating that Trump wrote a birthday letter for Epstein. The page contained a cryptic dialogue inside the sketched outline of a woman’s body.
“Come clean. Come before the US Congress, voluntarily testify. Don’t wait for a subpoena. Come and testify and tell us what you know,” Krishnamoorthi said.
