The outburst caused a commotion in the chamber, with boos and calls for order. It was later revealed that Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO) was the one who shouted.
Bush took to Twitter to own up to her disruption, stating, “I said what I said,” accompanied by a shrugging emoji.

The House proceeded to pass a spending bill to fund military construction, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and related agencies in fiscal year 2024. The vote was mostly along party lines, with two Republicans breaking ranks.
Scalise expressed his disappointment with the Democrats’ vote, highlighting that they voted against funding the Veterans Affairs Department and veterans’ benefits. He commended the Republicans for passing the bill to support veterans.
The House is now entering a six-week summer recess, with the possibility of being called back earlier to address remaining spending legislation. The pressure is on to reach agreements before the fiscal year ends in September to avoid a potential government shutdown.
