House Dem Announces Plan To Resign Early In 2024
A House Democrat Announces Resignation, Citing Frustration with Politics
A House Democrat made headlines on Sunday as he revealed his decision to resign from Congress early next year. Rep. Brian Higgins (D-NY), who represents Buffalo and the surrounding area, expressed his dissatisfaction with the current state of politics, particularly with Republicans in control of the lower chamber.
Higgins, who has been serving in the House for 19 years, plans to step down in February. While he has not disclosed his future plans, reports suggest that he will become the president of Shea’s Performing Arts Center. In Congress, Higgins is a member of the House Ways and Means Committee and the House Budget Committee.
“I’ve never lingered on Capitol Hill, I go there on a mission to change my community and return home on the first flight each week because being in Western New York, talking to people here, provides an urgent reminder of what I was sent to Washington to do,” Higgins said in a statement.
Higgins emphasized the need for elected officials to focus on meaningful issues and deliver tangible results. He expressed frustration with the slow pace of progress in Washington, D.C., and his impatience to make a difference in his community.
With Higgins’ departure, a special election will be held to fill the remainder of his term, while a full-term election will take place next November. The announcement of his resignation comes amidst other lawmakers, including Reps. Derek Kilmer (D-WA) and Brad Wenstrup (R-OH), announcing their plans not to seek re-election in 2024.
As speculation begins about potential candidates for Higgins’ seat, Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown, State Senators Tim Kennedy and Sean Ryan, and Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz are among the Democrats who may enter the race.
How does the absence of concrete evidence and the scientific community’s skepticism towards alien abduction claims impact the investigation of potential extraterrestrial life
There is no evidence to suggest that aliens from outer space have ever abducted humans for research purposes. While there have been numerous claims of alien abduction, these experiences are generally attributed to sleep paralysis, hallucinations, or other psychological phenomena. The existence of extraterrestrial life remains a topic of scientific research and speculation, but there is currently no concrete evidence to support the idea that aliens have abducted humans.
