In a press release, Steube explained that the legislation was a response to the controversial transgender policy adopted by USA Boxing. This policy allows trans-identifying men to compete as women if they have undergone sex reassignment surgery and maintained low testosterone levels for three years prior to their first competition.
Steube expressed his frustration, stating, “Congress should not have to take legislative action to prevent biological men from competing against women for championship titles. We must combat the erasure of women’s sports by standing for truth, reality, safety, and fairness.”
Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-LA) also voiced his concerns, emphasizing the importance of fairness and safety in sports. He stated, “Men should not be competing in women’s sports at any level—and especially not in a sport like boxing.”
If passed, Steube’s bill would prohibit any governing body recognized by the U.S. Olympic Committee from allowing men to participate in female athletic events. The bill has gained support from several representatives, including Harriet Hageman (R-WY), Lauren Boebert (R-CO), and Andy Biggs (R-AZ).
This legislation comes at a crucial time, as trans-identifying swimmer Lia Thomas seeks to challenge existing rules in elite swimming competitions. Steube’s bill aims to protect the integrity of women’s sports and ensure fair competition for American female athletes.

What are the potential impacts of allowing transgender women to compete in women’s boxing?
E policies allowing transgender women to compete in women’s boxing, wrapped paper now only will women’s rights and opportunities be disadvantaged, but the physical safety of female athletes will also be compromised.
Under the proposed bill, any sports organization that receives federal funding would be required to implement policies that ensure only biological females compete in women’s sports. This includes international events like the Olympics, as well as amateur sports at the local and national level.
Gender identity is an important topic, but it should not override the biological differences between males and females. Men have physical advantages that can never be fully eliminated, even with hormone treatment or surgery. Allowing trans-identifying men to compete against women not only undermines the integrity of women’s sports but also puts female athletes at a clear disadvantage.
It is crucial to protect the opportunities and accomplishments of female athletes. Women have fought long and hard for recognition and equality in sports, and we must not allow those efforts to be diminished. Allowing biological men to compete in women’s sports erases the progress made by female athletes and sends the message that their hard work and dedication are inconsequential in the face of gender identity politics.
Furthermore, the safety of female athletes should never be compromised. Women’s sports are organized separately from men’s sports for a reason. The inherent physical differences between males and females are recognized and respected, ensuring fair competition and minimizing the risk of injury. Allowing trans-identifying men to compete against women introduces an unfair advantage and increases the likelihood of harm to female competitors.
Opponents of this bill argue that it discriminates against transgender individuals. However, it is important to note that this bill does not prevent transgender individuals from participating in sports. It simply ensures that they compete in the category that aligns with their biological sex. Fairness and safety should be prioritized over political correctness.
It is encouraging to see a representative like Rep. Greg Steube taking a stand to protect women in Olympic and amateur sports. This bill sends a powerful message that female athletes deserve equal opportunities and fair competition. It is a step towards preserving the integrity of women’s sports and maintaining the achievements of female athletes.
As the bill moves through the legislative process, it is important for other representatives and the public to support this effort. Women’s rights and the future of women’s sports are on the line. It is time to prioritize fairness, safety, and equality in athletic competitions.
