Hillary Clinton says she doesn’t recall meeting Epstein in House oversight deposition
Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said she does not recall ever meeting convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein in her House Oversight and Government Reform Committee testimony opening statement.
“The Committee justified its subpoena to me based on its assumption that I have information regarding the investigations into the criminal activities of Jeffrey Epstein and [convicted co-conspirator] Ghislaine Maxwell. Let me be as clear as I can. I do not,” Clinton said.
“As I stated in my sworn declaration on January 13, I had no idea about their criminal activities,” the statement continued. “I do not recall ever encountering Mr. Epstein. I never flew on his plane or visited his island, homes or offices. I have nothing to add to that.”
Clinton blasted the House oversight committee and Chairman James Comer (R-KY) in her opening statement, listing several ways she would conduct the investigation if she were in charge.

“If the majority was serious, it would not waste time on fishing expeditions. There is too much that needs to be done,” Clinton said.
Clinton said a committee “endeavoring to stopping human trafficking” would take steps to “fix the system” that led to Epstein’s rise and ensure redactions “protected the victims and survivors, not powerful men and political allies.”
Clinton then turned her attention to President Donald Trump, whose name is mentioned in the Epstein files and who also defeated Clinton in the 2016 Presidential election.
“You have compelled me to testify, fully aware that I have no knowledge that would assist your investigation, in order to distract attention from President Trump’s actions and to cover them up despite legitimate calls for answers,” Clinton said.
Trump’s inclusion in the Epstein files does not implicate him in the disgraced financier’s crimes. Trump has repeatedly denied all allegations related to Epstein’s criminal activity.
Clinton’s husband, former President Bill Clinton, was featured in photos in the Epstein files and will appear before the House oversight committee for testimony on Friday.
