Former Vice President Kamala Harris used her appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! to criticize President Donald Trump‘s Wednesday night national address.
Harris appeared on Jimmy Kimmel’s show during her 107 Days book tour, which has fueled speculation about whether she may run again.
The former vice president emphasized that the public should not “normalize” the Trump administration.
“There is nothing normal about what we are experiencing, and I think it’s really important for us to remember we cannot normalize this,” she said.
“We also must remember … the people of America deserve better,” Harris added, hinting at the Democratic drive to push Republicans out of the White House, which earned applause from the audience.
Harris recently extended her book tour into 2026, announcing additional stops between January and April. She will travel to the swing states of Wisconsin and Michigan, both of which she lost in 2024, as part of the tour.
Her book, 107 Days, is doing well according to its publisher, Simon & Schuster. The publisher announced in September that the book is set to be the bestselling memoir for 2025 after it sold 350,000 copies in its first week. The publisher then ordered a fifth printing of the book, bringing its number of hardcover copies in print to 500,000.
The book discusses Harris’s failed pursuit of the presidency in 2024 and mentions several figures in her party, raising questions about whether she truly wants to seek another bid.
Democratic National Committee Chairman Ken Martin signaled earlier this month that the party would be supportive of another run. He introduced former second gentleman Doug Emhoff at a party reception and noted that he could still be the future first gentleman.
Harris has reentered the Democratic campaign apparatus in recent weeks. She helped Aftyn Behn, the Democratic nominee in Tennessee’s 7th Congressional District, rally canvass supporters earlier this month. Behn ultimately lost to Rep. Mark Van Epps (R-TN) by close to 9 points.
She has a long way to go until 2028. In order to be the party’s presidential nominee again, Harris would have to convince supporters and detractors within the party that she can beat whoever Republicans can muster, possibly Vice President JD Vance. She would likely have to prove that 2024 was a fluke, and as her book says, that she ran out of time to beat Trump.

However, Harris has shown no signs of regret from that election. When jokingly asked at one point about whether she and her husband started drinking after her loss, Harris hesitated.
