The United States at a Scary Moment: Henry Winkler Speaks Out
The current state of the United States has left actor Henry Winkler feeling uneasy. In light of the recent arrest of former President Donald Trump, Winkler expressed his concerns about the country’s situation.
“This country is at a very scary moment,”
he said. “How can we so dislike each other just for having a point of view? That is insane … I mean, if you looked insanity up, that would be the definition.”
Trump turned himself in to authorities on Thursday, facing indictment in Georgia for his efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election results. Winkler emphasized that “nobody is above the law” in response to the arrest.
Prior to the release of Trump’s mug shot, Winkler playfully speculated on social media about how Trump would fundraise for his campaign. However, Trump surprised many by using the mug shot to sell merchandise, such as T-shirts, coffee mugs, and signed posters.
Since then, Trump has managed to raise over $7 million, accounting for more than a third of his campaign’s total funds raised in the past three weeks.
Jen Psaki, former White House press secretary for President Joe Biden, even joked that Trump is wearing the mug shot “like a badge of honor.”
Trump’s arraignment for his Fulton County, Georgia, indictment is scheduled for September 6 at 9:30 a.m. He will be followed by 18 other defendants, including Rudy Giuliani, John Eastman, and Sidney Powell, each appearing in 15-minute increments.
