In return for the release of the Israeli hostages, Israel will release 42 Palestinian prisoners as part of the agreement, as reported by various sources.
This marks Day Two of a four-day pause in fighting, agreed upon by Hamas and Israel. The agreement stipulates that Hamas will release approximately 50 Israeli hostages, while Israel will release three Palestinian prisoners for each hostage returned.
On Friday, Hamas released the first batch of hostages, which included 13 Israelis, 10 Thai nationals, and one Filipino national.
Since its attack on Israel on October 7th, Hamas is estimated to have taken nearly 240 hostages. This temporary truce represents the first break in the fighting since the invasion.
