Group Of House Republicans Demand Pelosi ‘Immediately’ Begin Impeachment Proceedings Against Biden

A group of House Republicans sent a letter Monday to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi calling on her to immediately bring impeachment proceedings against President Joe Biden, saying they have lost confidence in his ability to continue to serve as Commander in Chief.

The letter was spearheaded by New York Republican Rep. Claudia Tenney, who was joined by 14 other members of Congress. In it, the House Republicans blasted Biden’s handling of the withdrawal from Afghanistan after 13 U.S. service members were killed in a terror attack at the Kabul airport and called on Pelosi to immediately begin impeachment proceedings.

“The American people must have full confidence in their Commander in Chief’s judgment and ability to protect our country and respond decisively to national security threats. A majority of Americans no longer have confidence in President Joseph R. Biden’s ability to carry out his duties as Commander in Chief of the U.S. Armed Forces. His unilateral, reckless decision to retreat from Afghanistan was done against the advice of military and national security experts and it has now put thousands of American military personnel, citizens, and Afghan allies in grave peril,” the lawmakers wrote in the letter.

“Tragically, at least 12 service members have lost their lives in the deadliest attack on U.S. forces in the last decade. President Biden refuses to take responsibility for his actions and continues to mishandle the deteriorating situation at every step. In addition, he has deliberately misled the American people in response to questions posed by the media. Free nations around the world look to the United States for leadership, and President Biden has proven definitively, and repeatedly, since this crisis began that he is not capable of effectively executing his duties as our Commander in Chief and leader of the Free World. As members of Congress, we have the duty to oversee the Executive Branch and provide for the common defense of the United States of America,” they added.

“We have lost confidence in President Biden’s ability to continue serving as Commander in Chief. It is after much consideration and with heavy hearts at the current state of our nation that we call upon you, Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, to begin impeachment proceedings immediately,” the lawmakers concluded. Republican Louisiana Rep. Clay Higgins introduced resolutions calling for the resignations of Biden, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and Gen. Mark Milley prior to the press conference.

Republicans have also pushed for a vote on a resolution to impeach Secretary of State Antony Blinken, introduced Friday by Republican Reps. Ralph Norman of South Carolina and Andy Harris of Maryland. They said Biden, and specifically Blinken, were responsible for the ongoing bloodshed in Afghanistan.

The Daily Caller contacted Pelosi’s office about the letter, to which they did not immediately respond.
