On⁤ Wednesday, the Malmo District Court in Sweden mandated Thunberg, 20, to pay a $206 (about 2,250 kroner) fine⁤ for disobeying police mandates during ‌an environmental protest that occurred in July.

During the protest, ‍Thunberg ⁤and several other activists blocked entry into⁣ an⁢ oil ⁤terminal in Malmo. This consisted⁢ of ‌the⁤ activists⁣ sitting in front of⁤ the ⁤facility and refusing the leave when⁤ asked to by police officers.

Therefore, she was fined with “disobedience ⁣to law enforcement” on September 15th for declining to ‍follow police orders after ⁢they requested for her to leave ⁤the scene. Then, she was dragged⁢ away ‍by two police officers after the event.

Thunberg has denied that she is guilty for ‌her actions. However, she has confessed to⁢ the facts of the situation, explaining that the battle against the fossil‍ fuel business was a form of “self-defense” because of the global danger ‌of the climate crisis.

According to⁣ the statement Thunberg made ‍on the ⁢verdict, she proclaims, “We have the science on our ⁢side and we⁣ have morality ‌on our side. Nothing in the world can change that and so ⁢it is. I am ready⁤ to act based⁢ on the ‌conditions that exist and whether it leads to ‍more sentences.”

The climate⁣ activist had‍ been fined previously for a similar offense that took place on June 24th, 2023 during an environmental protest ‌at the same oil terminal in Malmo. During this demonstration, she and several‍ other activists momentarily restricted access to the oil⁤ terminal facility by sitting down in front and ⁢were physically removed by police.

From her first offense⁣ that ‍occurred in June, Thunberg was required to pay $230 (about 2,500⁣ kroner), ⁣fined by the same court in Malmo.

On Thursday, ‌Thunberg and ⁢several other environmental activists, including Indigenous Sami, are planning to take part in another protest in Norway.‌

At⁢ this upcoming ⁢demonstration,‍ the activists are ⁢planning to participate by‌ protesting a wind‍ farm of 151⁣ turbines and command to have it removed because they believe it⁢ harms the reindeer herders’ “way of life”.

According to the activists, an ⁢adjustment to producing green energy should⁢ not⁢ come at the expense of the Indigenous peoples’ rights.

Norway’s Supreme Court ruled that the construction of ⁤the wind turbines had disobeyed the rights of ‍the Sami, who have ⁢controlled the land and utilized it for reindeer for many years. However, the ⁢Norwegian government is not planning to ⁢relocate or ⁣get rid of the wind farm.

The 20-year-old climate activist is ‌known for‌ encouraging ‌global movements ‍for the youth by wanting more useful ‌and⁣ beneficial efforts ‌to battle climate change after holding ‍weekly protests outside⁤ the ⁢Swedish Parliament ⁣that started in 2018.

Greta‌ Thunberg Convicted Again for Violating Police ⁣Orders during Environmental Protest

On October 11, 2023, the Malmo District Court in Sweden charged climate activist Greta Thunberg for the second time for violating police orders during an environmental protest that took place in July. Thunberg, who is 20 years old, has been fined ‌$206 (about 2,250 kroner) for disobeying‍ police mandates.

During the protest, Thunberg and several ⁢other activists blocked entry into an oil terminal in Malmo. They sat in front of the facility and refused to ⁤leave when asked⁢ to do so by the police. As a result, Thunberg was fined for “disobedience to law enforcement” on September ‍15th. She was subsequently dragged away by two police officers.

Thunberg denies being guilty of her actions but accepts the facts of⁣ the⁤ situation. She explains that ⁤the battle against the fossil fuel industry is‍ a form of “self-defense” due to the global⁣ danger posed by the climate crisis.

In a statement following the verdict, Thunberg proclaimed, “We⁤ have⁤ the science on our side and we have⁣ morality on our side. Nothing in the world can change that, and so it is. I am ready to act based on the conditions that exist and whether it leads ⁢to more sentences.”

This is not the first ⁣time ⁣Thunberg‍ has been fined for a similar ⁤offense. On June 24th, 2023, during another environmental protest at the same oil terminal in Malmo, she was fined $230 (about 2,500 kroner) by the same court.

Thunberg and several other environmental activists, including Indigenous Sami, are planning to take part in another protest in Norway. At this upcoming demonstration, they will be protesting a wind farm of 151 turbines and⁣ demanding its removal, as they believe it harms the reindeer herders’ “way of life.” The activists argue ⁢that ‌while transitioning to green energy is important, it should not ⁣come⁤ at the expense of Indigenous rights.

Although Norway’s Supreme Court ruled that the construction of the wind turbines violated the rights⁣ of the Sami people, who have historically controlled the ‌land and used it for reindeer herding, the Norwegian government has no plans to relocate or remove the wind farm.

Greta Thunberg, a 20-year-old climate activist, continues⁤ to inspire global movements for⁣ youth empowerment and environmental action. Her ongoing‌ activism and conviction demonstrate her unwavering dedication ⁢to fighting for ⁢a sustainable future.
