Gov. Andrew Cuomo said he feels he did the right thing in stepping down from his position. During an interview with New York Magazine on Friday, Cuomo said he wasn’t going to drag the state through the mud for a months-long impeachment process and then “win.”

The governor has continued to maintain his innocence following months of mounting pressure from several GOP and Democrat officials calling for his removal.

In an interview on Sunday, incoming Gov. Kathy Hochul said it won’t be difficult for her to end the legacy of sleaze. “Everyone who’s known my career over 27 years of elected office know that I have very high ethical standards,” said Hochul. “And I will go in there and literally say ‘it’s a new day.’” Zero tolerance, I’m going to be very firm in my expectations and how my administration conducts themselves.”

In the meantime, Cuomo didn’t say what his next steps would be, but assured he would not be disappearing from the public eye.
