Gold Star Family: Biden Silent on Daughter-In-Law’s Afghanistan Tragedy
Gold Star Family Member Reveals Biden’s Lack of Contact After Daughter-in-Law’s Death
Christy Shamblin, a Gold Star family member, whose daughter-in-law, Marine Sgt. Nicole Gee, tragically lost her life during President Joe Biden’s chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021, recently spoke out about the President’s failure to reach out to their family.
Shamblin, who has been invited as a guest to the State of the Union address by House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul, shared her thoughts during an interview on CNN’s “The Lead” with Abby Phillip.
When asked what she wanted to hear from President Biden regarding her daughter-in-law’s death, Shamblin expressed her desire for him to strengthen the Armed Forces, provide support, answer their questions, and lead a thorough investigation as promised.
Phillip, surprised by Shamblin’s response, mentioned Biden’s reputation as the “consoler in chief” and his history of reaching out to families who have lost loved ones. However, Shamblin firmly stated that the President had not contacted their family and that their attempts to reach out to the White House had gone unanswered.
Shamblin’s daughter-in-law was tragically killed during an ISIS-K terrorist attack at the Kabul airport, which claimed the lives of several U.S. service members.
Let’s not forget the names of those brave individuals who also lost their lives: Marine Corps Staff Sgt. Darin T. Hoover, Marine Corps Sgt. Johanny Rosario Pichardo, Marine Corps Cpl. Hunter Lopez, Marine Corps Cpl. Daegan W. Page, Marine Corps Cpl. Humberto A. Sanchez, Marine Corps Lance Cpl. David L. Espinoza, Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Jared M. Schmitz, Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Rylee J. McCollum, Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Dylan R. Merola, Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Kareem M. Nikoui, Navy Hospitalman Maxton W. Soviak, and Army Staff Sgt. Ryan C. Knauss.

Why did President Biden fail to reach out personally to Gold Star families, including the family of Sgt. Nicole Gee, after their tragic loss?
For acknowledgment and support from the President. She stated that she expected a phone call or at least a letter expressing condolences and gratitude for Sgt. Nicole Gee’s sacrifice. However, to her disappointment, no such contact was made by President Biden or any representative from his administration.
Shamblin expressed her frustration, stating that it felt as if her daughter-in-law’s sacrifice was being ignored and overlooked. She believed that it was important for the President to reach out to Gold Star families, not only to honor their loved ones but also to offer support and comfort during such difficult times.
The lack of contact from President Biden stands in stark contrast to his predecessor, former President Donald Trump, who frequently met with and reached out to Gold Star families. This stark difference has not gone unnoticed by the Gold Star community, with many expressing their disappointment and frustration.
Shamblin emphasized that it is not about politics but about showing compassion and empathy towards those who have lost a loved one in service to their country. She stated that it is important for the President to acknowledge the sacrifices made by these brave men and women and to offer support to their grieving families.
The death of Sgt. Nicole Gee and the lack of contact from President Biden highlights a broader issue regarding his handling of the withdrawal from Afghanistan. The chaotic nature of the withdrawal and the loss of American lives has raised questions and criticism from both Democrats and Republicans.
While President Biden has expressed condolences to the families of the fallen service members during public addresses, the lack of personalized contact and support for individual families has left many feeling disregarded and neglected.
