OAN’s Abril Elfi: DNA⁢ Match Found Between Gilgo Beach Murder Suspect’s Estranged ⁢Wife and Victims

OAN journalist ⁤Abril Elfi reported on⁣ Thursday, November ‍30, 2023, that a DNA sample taken ⁤from the estranged wife ⁤of the⁣ Gilgo beach ⁣murder⁤ suspect has resulted in ‍a match⁤ with more than one of the victims.

On the evening that Asa Ellerup’s husband, Rex Heuermann, ⁤was taken into ‍custody for the killings ⁤of three women near Gilgo Beach in Long Island,‍ investigators collected ‌a DNA sample from Asa’s cheek swab.

Prosecutors⁤ discovered Ellerup’s hair strands on the burlap, and the DNA from those strands⁢ matches the samples taken from her cheek swab.

However, the prosecution ‍has exonerated the estranged wife of all charges, as⁤ they have⁢ evidence that⁢ she was out⁤ of ‍town when ⁣the murders occurred.

This⁤ news comes ‍shortly after Ellerup’s first court appearance, where she ‌was seen grinning and nodding to her husband.

During the hearing, defense attorney Michael⁢ Brown requested investigator notes, to which the prosecution responded that they had already provided 75% of the materials, including warrants and ‌photographs.

Despite⁣ their recent separation, Ellerup⁢ visited her soon-to-be ex-husband in prison ‍just last week.

“He indicated he was very happy to see her,” Brown said. “My‌ understanding is she doesn’t believe he was capable or committed these acts.”

Ellerup’s attorney Robert Macedonio⁣ added, “If this happened, Rex was living a complete double life. Nobody ‍would ⁢like to believe their spouse is capable of any of these heinous crimes.”

Ellerup appeared in court one day after Heuermann filed paperwork to⁢ transfer ownership of their home to her.

The suspect has been charged with three counts of murder in⁣ connection ‌to the deaths of Melissa Barthelemy, ⁤Megan Waterman, and Amber Lynn Costello.

Heuermann ‌has pleaded⁤ not guilty to ‌all charges and is ⁣also a prime suspect in the⁢ disappearance of Maureen Brainard-Barnes.

He has been ⁢in custody ⁤since July 13th, and his next court appearance is scheduled for February ⁤6th.

What conflicting emotions were seen during Asa Ellerup’s court appearance, and why is it understandable ⁤for her to struggle with the ⁢accusations against her husband?

And two other women, whose identities have⁢ not been released. The investigation into the Gilgo Beach murders has been ongoing ‌for several years, with numerous leads and suspects being considered.

The discovery of a DNA match between the suspect’s estranged wife, Asa Ellerup, and some of the ‍victims is a significant⁢ development in the case. However, it is important to note that this does not ⁢necessarily implicate Ellerup in‌ the crimes. The prosecution has confirmed that ⁣she has been cleared⁤ of any involvement, as they have evidence that she was out of town at the time of the murders.

During Ellerup’s first court appearance, there were conflicting emotions on display. While she was seen ⁢grinning and nodding to her husband, defense attorney Michael Brown stated that she does not believe he was capable of committing such heinous acts. It is understandable that Ellerup would struggle to believe that her spouse could be responsible for ⁢these crimes.

Ellerup’s attorney, Robert Macedonio, emphasized ‌that if ⁣the accusations are true, it would mean her husband was leading a double life. He stated that nobody wants to ‍believe their spouse is capable of such actions.

It is worth noting‌ that Ellerup appeared in court one day after her husband filed paperwork to transfer ownership of⁤ their⁣ home to her. This raises questions about the state of⁤ their relationship and potential motives behind the transfer. However, it is ⁣important to remember that these are merely circumstantial details and do not directly implicate Ellerup in ⁢the crimes.

The investigation into the Gilgo Beach murders is far from over. Prosecutors and law⁢ enforcement agencies will continue to gather evidence and interview witnesses in order to bring the responsible⁣ party ⁣to justice. Asa Ellerup’s ⁣DNA match⁤ to the victims does not change the fact that she has been cleared ⁤of any involvement. The focus should remain on identifying the true culprit‍ and bringing them to justice.

This latest development in the Gilgo Beach murder case serves‍ as a‍ reminder of the complexity and intricacy ‌of criminal investigations. It also highlights the ‍importance of thorough and ‍meticulous examination of evidence, as well as the need to consider all possible angles and suspects.

As the investigation ⁤continues, it is crucial that the public allows the justice system to do its work. It is essential to remember that everyone is innocent until proven guilty, and that accusations alone do‌ not necessarily indicate guilt. The authorities are dedicated to uncovering the truth and ensuring that justice is served for the victims and their families.
