California Governor Gavin Newsom Reveals Potential Successor to‍ President Biden

In a recent interview, Governor Gavin Newsom hinted at Vice President Kamala Harris ⁤being the frontrunner for the Democratic Party if President⁤ Joe Biden decides not to run for re-election in 2024.

During an appearance on NBC News’ “Meet The Press,” Newsom expressed‍ his belief that Vice President Harris is the natural choice to lead the party. He emphasized that the filing deadlines are approaching rapidly, indicating the need to ⁣move past⁣ any doubts about President Biden’s candidacy.

When ⁢asked ⁣about his own potential candidacy, Newsom deflected ⁢the question, stating that his focus is on supporting President Biden’s re-election. He urged donors who expressed concerns about Biden’s candidacy to “move on” and shift their attention to the upcoming campaign.

Newsom, who considers‌ himself “a little⁣ old-fashioned,” highlighted the strong working relationship he shares with Vice President Harris. Having known each other for‌ years and collaborating closely during her ⁤time in⁢ the Senate, Newsom believes that Harris would be the natural successor in the event of any unforeseen‌ circumstances.

Addressing the possibility ‍of running against each other, Newsom dismissed the idea, emphasizing the strong interpersonal bond he maintains with Harris. He described their conversations as supportive and‍ focused on important matters, even sharing meals together at the White House.

However,⁤ Newsom did mention that ⁤someone from Harris’ office expressed displeasure over his decision to‍ participate in a debate with Republican presidential candidate Ron DeSantis⁢ later‍ this year.
