Gaetz seeks details from Mayorkas on illegal immigrants endangering first responders.
EXCLUSIVE: Rep. Matt Gaetz Demands Answers from Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas
Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) has taken action regarding an alarming incident involving an illegal immigrant from Nicaragua. In a letter addressed to Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, Gaetz requests crucial information about Yacarely Diaz-Castro, who, while intoxicated, crashed into a police officer in Virginia.
According to local reports, on Aug. 19, Diaz-Castro collided with a Chesapeake police officer who was conducting a routine traffic stop. The officer sustained severe injuries, including a fractured skull and a C6 vertebrae fracture.

Diaz-Castro now faces charges of DUI maiming, driving without a license, and failing to yield to a stationary vehicle with warning lights.
What raises further concern is the fact that Diaz-Castro entered the country illegally and claimed to have received a “notice to report” form from the Department of Homeland Security. Gaetz is determined to uncover the truth behind this matter and seeks answers from Secretary Mayorkas.
“This document, while itself an unlawful papering over of your open-border policies, does mandate a recipient report to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) within 60 days, at which point the illegal alien should begin removal proceedings by receiving a ‘Notice to Appear,'” Gaetz expressed in his letter.

In light of these revelations, the Florida Republican demands that the Department of Homeland Security provide him with Diaz-Castro’s immigration status on Aug. 18, the day she illegally crossed the border, and whether she reported to ICE. Additionally, Gaetz seeks information on the number of individuals who fail to comply with their “notice to report” forms, the actions taken by DHS to remove non-compliant individuals, and the number of law enforcement officers and first responders injured by illegal immigrants in the past two years.
Secretary Mayorkas has until Oct. 2 to fulfill Gaetz’s request.
