Fox News pays $12 million to settle lawsuit with ex-Tucker Carlson producer.
Breaking News: Fox Corporation Settles Lawsuit Alleging Hostile Work Environment
Former Fox News producer Abby Grossberg has reached a $12 million settlement with Fox Corporation, putting an end to her lawsuit that accused the network of promoting a hostile working environment. Grossberg, who served as the head of booking for Tucker Carlson, filed the lawsuit in March, claiming she was subjected to vulgar comments during her time at Fox News’ New York office.
The complaint, filed in the U.S. Southern District of New York, stated that the toxic work dynamic allegedly fostered by Carlson severely impacted Grossberg’s health. While Carlson has not publicly responded to the lawsuit, Fox News denied Grossberg’s allegations.
Upon news of the settlement, a Fox News spokesperson expressed satisfaction that the matter had been resolved. “We are pleased that we have been able to resolve this matter without further litigation,” the spokesperson said.
Grossberg, in a statement obtained by The Epoch Times, expressed hope that the settlement represents a positive step towards improving the treatment of women and minorities in the workplace. She added, “While I stand by my claims and allegations, I am heartened that Fox News has taken me and my legal claims seriously.”
This settlement draws comparisons to the 2016 case where former Fox News anchor Gretchen Carlson settled with the network for $20 million after suing her former boss, Roger Ailes, for sexual harassment. Carlson tweeted her support for Grossberg, commending her bravery in coming forward about the bad behavior at Fox.
More Details
Grossberg, who had been employed by Fox since 2019, was fired after filing her lawsuit. Fox claimed that her legal claims were filled with false allegations. Grossberg had accused Fox of gender and religious discrimination, pay equity violations, and creating a hostile work environment.
In her lawsuit, Grossberg’s lawyers referenced the network’s history of settling with female employees. They claimed that Fox News fosters a toxic workplace where female workers are verbally violated on a daily basis.
Grossberg had also filed a similar lawsuit in Delaware Superior Court, seeking unspecified damages, but she dismissed it in May. Tucker Carlson, the host of “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” was among the defendants in Grossberg’s Manhattan lawsuit.
Tucker Carlson Controversy
Amid Carlson’s departure from Fox News, the network issued a statement announcing their parting of ways without providing specific reasons. Carlson has not publicly commented on the split, but he hinted in a video that he may have reported on topics that the company’s management disagreed with.
Although Fox News has experienced a decline in primetime ratings since Carlson’s departure, it remains the top-rated cable news channel overall. Carlson recently launched his new show on Twitter.
