Fox News host and guest dismiss Chris Christie’s “hot mic” incident, claiming he was fully aware of his actions
Fox News Host and Guest Suggest “Hot Mic” Moment with Chris Christie Was No Accident
During a recent segment on Fox News, host Harris Faulkner and former White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer speculated that the “hot mic” incident involving former Governor Chris Christie may have been intentional. Both Faulkner and Fleischer agreed that someone with Christie’s political experience would not likely be caught off guard by a live microphone.
“First of all, if you care about your political party and you’ve been in politics as long as Chris Christie, do you really not know that mic is not hot?” Faulkner questioned. “I mean, I don’t know. I guess we’ll never know. I refuse to believe that until he tells that publicly. And what he said was explosive against those other two candidates.”
Fleischer chimed in, stating, “Yeah, I mean it really shows that he thinks he is the only one. The fact that he won’t endorse anybody else, and obviously won’t endorse Donald Trump. The cynic makes you think, now maybe he’s going to try to pivot back to President Trump after being the one who denounced President Trump.”
Faulkner added, “Or even Biden, the way he was talking!”
Fleischer laughed and disagreed, suggesting that Christie was more likely to align with a third party than to endorse President Joe Biden. He speculated that Christie may be positioning himself as a candidate for the No Labels movement.
“The real place to keep your eye out for Chris Christie is No Labels. Is he going to be the one who now tries to carry the No Labels mantle, and maybe that reads to that hot mic moment. He knew what he was doing and he’s going to try to set himself up for a run down the middle.”

Just before Christie announced the suspension of his presidential campaign, he was allegedly caught on a live mic criticizing opponent and former Governor Nikki Haley. He also appeared ready to attack Governor Ron DeSantis, but the audio was cut off before he finished his sentence.
“She’s gonna get smoked. And you and I both know it. She’s not up to this,” Christie said of Haley, before the mic abruptly cut out.
Why do Faulkner and Fleischer believe that Christie’s remarks on the hot mic were not a mere accident?
As Chris Christie has, you don’t let something like a hot mic catch you off guard,” Fleischer stated during the segment. “You know when mics are live and when they’re not. So the fact that he was caught saying something controversial and potentially damaging to the Republican Party makes me question whether it was a deliberate move.”
Faulkner agreed, adding, “Christie is a seasoned politician. He knows how to handle himself in front of cameras and microphones. It’s hard to believe that he would slip up like that without intending to.”
The ”hot mic” incident in question occurred during a commercial break while Christie was serving as a guest co-host on the discussion-based program “The Faulkner Focus.” Unaware that his microphone was still live, Christie could be heard criticizing Republican lawmakers for not standing up against former President Donald Trump’s baseless claims of widespread voter fraud in the 2020 election.
While many dismissed the incident as an innocent mistake, Faulkner and Fleischer argued that the timing and content of Christie’s remarks raised suspicions. They questioned whether Christie had intentionally used the hot mic opportunity to distance himself from Trump and position himself as a more moderate Republican voice in preparation for a potential future run for political office.
Fleischer emphasized the political nature of the incident, stating, “We must always remember that politicians are strategic. They weigh their words carefully and are constantly considering the potential impact of their actions on their careers. It’s not far-fetched to think that Christie saw an opportunity to distance himself from Trump and took it, even if it meant making controversial statements.”
This speculation adds another layer to the already complex relationship between Christie and Trump. In the past, Christie had been a staunch ally and vocal supporter of the former president. However, their relationship became strained after Christie’s co-chairing of Trump’s 2016 presidential transition team and his unsuccessful bid for the Republican presidential nomination.
Since then, Christie has distanced himself from Trump, openly criticizing his response to the COVID-19 pandemic and condemning the actions of some Republicans in the aftermath of the 2020 election. This has led many to speculate about Christie’s future political ambitions and potential aspirations for higher office.
While the true intentions behind the “hot mic” incident may never be known, Faulkner and Fleischer’s conversation on Fox News highlights the continuous intrigue and speculation surrounding the world of politics. Political figures are always under scrutiny, and every move and statement they make is subject to interpretation and analysis.
As the discussion comes to a close, Faulkner concluded, “Only Chris Christie truly knows what he intended with his comments. But it serves as a reminder that in the world of politics, nothing is ever a mere accident, and every action has potential ramifications.
