Four dead and over a dozen injured in downtown Chicago shooting

A tragic shooting incident occurred in downtown Chicago on Wednesday night, resulting in the deaths of four individuals and over a dozen injuries. Preliminary reports indicate that a gunman in a vehicle opened fire into a crowd outside the Artis Lounge nightclub around 11 p.m., where attendees had gathered to celebrate the album release of rapper mello Buckzz. Among the deceased are two men (aged 24 and 25) and two women, while the wounded include 11 women and three men aged between 21 and 32.

Mello Buckzz expressed her grief on social media, revealing that she lost her boyfriend and two close friends in the attack. Videos from the scene depicted a chaotic aftermath,with blood on the sidewalk and emergency responders providing aid to the injured. The shooting has drawn attention to ongoing issues of gun violence in urban areas.

A gunman killed four people and injured over a dozen more, three critically, in a drive-by shooting in Chicago on Wednesday night.

According to preliminary information from police, a vehicle stopped by and fired into a crowd gathered inside and outside of a nightclub at around 11 p.m. before speeding away. The dead include two men, ages 24 and 25, and two women, CBS News Chicago reported. The wounded consisted of 11 women and three men, aged 21 to 32 years old.

The crowd gathered outside the Artis Lounge nightclub for rapper Mello Buckzz’s party to celebrate the release of her new album, Hollyhood.

Buckzz, 24, revealed her boyfriend and two close friends were killed in the shooting, commemorating them both on her Instagram account.

“We was having so much fun in our private little life … couldn’t leave each other alone glued to my hip everyday its not a night we aint spend together,” she wrote over a video of the two dancing with a crying emoji. “[I’m] so f***ing angry u was woke i held yo hand until i couldnt u talked to me clearly ion get it boo im f***ed up.”

“D*** shorty my mfn dog … my brotherrrr u n vonte was my 2 ppl im so lost,” Buckzz said with sad emojis. “i cant believe i lost both yall in 1 night.”

Posts from Buckzz tagged two of the dead women, identified as her close friends. They were posting videos of the party from within the nightclub on their Instagram accounts until moments before their deaths, meaning at least three of the four killed were shot within the nightclub.

Videos posted on social media showed blood splattered on the sidewalk outside of the club as well, with first responders performing CPR on some of the victims. Over a dozen police cars and ambulances were at the scene.

Social media reports said Buckzz was unharmed, but fellow rapper Doo Wop was injured.

The injured were sent to several surrounding hospitals.
