Jeff Gunter, former Ambassador to Iceland, to run for Senate in Nevada.
Republican Jeff Gunter Announces Bid to Oust Sen. Jacky Rosen in Nevada Senate Race
Republican Jeff Gunter has officially announced his candidacy in the Nevada Senate race, aiming to unseat Sen. Jacky Rosen (D-NV). Gunter, a former ambassador to Iceland under then-President Donald Trump, made the announcement in a captivating video released on Monday.
Putting Nevada First
In a powerful statement, Gunter emphasized his commitment to prioritizing the needs of the people of Nevada. As a medical doctor, he has dedicated his career to treating thousands of residents facing life-threatening ailments. Now, he is determined to fight for policies that promote economic renewal, address crime, secure the Southern border, and empower patients with healthcare choices.
A Strong Critique of Rosen and Biden
Gunter did not hold back in his criticism of Sen. Rosen, accusing her of being a “rubber stamp” for President Joe Biden’s failed and extreme policies. He positioned himself as a staunch supporter of former President Trump and challenged fellow Republican candidates to endorse Trump as well.
“The fight to preserve our great country and the state of Nevada must be fought in the Nation’s Capital. We must, at all costs, protect our liberties and freedoms that are being trampled on by the far-left agenda seeking to destroy the very fabric our nation was founded upon: life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. This is why I am proud to officially endorse President Donald J. Trump and challenge my opponent to do the same,” Gunter declared.
A Better Future for Nevada
Gunter expressed his sense of urgency, stating, “If not now, when?” He is determined to fight for the state of Nevada, not only for a better tomorrow but also for a brighter future for generations to come.
Gunter also highlighted his endorsement from former Rep. Lee Zeldin, further solidifying his position in the race. He joins a competitive GOP field that includes Sam Brown, a favorite of the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC), and Jim Marchant, a former Republican Secretary of State candidate.
With several prominent Senate Republicans backing Brown, the GOP is determined to win the seat, which is currently rated as ”lean Democratic” by the Cook Political Report.
