September SNAP payments will reach four states within a week.
Fast SNAP Payments in Four States
Exciting news for eligible households in Alaska, North Dakota, Rhode Island, and Vermont! These states are taking the lead by sending out all Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) payments within just seven days. While most states distribute food stamps throughout September, these four states are ensuring that recipients receive their benefits promptly.
Equal Maximum Payments in Three States
In North Dakota, Rhode Island, and Vermont, the maximum SNAP payments remain consistent. For a household of one, the maximum payment is $281. A household of four can receive up to $939, while a household of eight is eligible for $1,691. Additional household members receive an extra $211.
Unique SNAP Benefits in Alaska and Hawaii
Alaska and Hawaii stand out with their distinct SNAP benefit amounts. In Alaska, the maximum monthly payment varies based on the resident’s location, as the state is divided into three regions: Rural I, Rural II, and Urban.
- Rural I households of one can receive up to $293
- Rural II households of one can receive up to $357
- Urban households of one can receive up to $230
- Rural I households of eight can receive up to $1,762
- Rural II households of eight can receive up to $2,145
- Urban households of eight can receive up to $1,382
These varying amounts ensure that SNAP benefits align with the cost of living in different regions of Alaska.
Currently, approximately 348,400 individuals across these four states receive food stamps through SNAP. These benefits are reloaded onto an electronic benefits transfer card each month, allowing recipients to conveniently use them at participating locations such as grocery stores, farmers markets, and select online retailers.
