Residents in four states can expect their September SNAP payment to arrive in just nine days.
Four States to Send Out SNAP Payments to Eligible Households
Get ready, because in just nine days, four states will be distributing payments from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) to every eligible household. While most states spread out their food stamp distributions throughout the month, Alaska, North Dakota, Rhode Island, and Vermont have chosen to send out all of their direct SNAP payments on the 1st of the month.
Alaska
Alaska, known as the Last Frontier State, has a unique system for determining the maximum monthly payment for SNAP-participating households. The state is divided into three regions: Rural I, Rural II, and Urban. In the Rural I region, households of one can receive up to $293, while households of four can receive up to $979. For those living in the Urban region, the maximum payment for a household of one is $230. In total, approximately 12% of Alaska’s population, or 92,100 people, receive food stamps, with an average payment of $271 per household member per month.
North Dakota
In North Dakota, the maximum payment for SNAP households is $281 for a household of one, $939 for a household of four, and $1,691 for a household of eight. The state has 47,400 SNAP benefit recipients, making up 6% of the population. The average payment per household member per month is $185.
Rhode Island
Rhode Island also has a maximum SNAP payment of $281 for a household of one, $939 for a household of four, and $1,691 for a household of eight. Additional household members receive an extra $211. Approximately 13% of Rhode Island’s population, or 139,400 people, receive food stamps, with an average payment of $183 per household member per month.
Vermont
In Vermont, 11% of the population, or 69,500 people, are eligible for SNAP benefits. The average payment per household member per month is $188. The maximum payment amounts are $281 for a household of one, $939 for a household of four, and $1,339 for a household of six. An additional $211 is added for each member after six.
